TOWN CLERK'S REPORT


To the Citizens of the Town of Douglas:


Following is the Annual Town Clerk's Report:


VOTES PASSED BY THE TOWN SINCE THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING


Special Town Meeting, Saturday, April 13, 1957 at 7.00 P.M.


ARTICLE 1. The Town voted to transfer the principal and in- terest on deposit in the Post War Rehabilitation Fund to the Douglas Memorial High School Addition Construction Account.


ARTICLE 2. The Town voted to transfer the sum of twelve thousand ($12,000.00) dollars from Free Cash in the hands of the Treasurer to the Douglas Memorial High School Addition Construc- tion Account, said amount being necessary for the construction of a Manual Training Room in the present school building.

Special Town Meeting Monday, May 27, 1957, at 7.30 P.M.


ARTICLE 1. The Town voted to raise and appropriate the sum of two thousand ($2,000.00) dollars for Group Insurance for Town Employees.


ARTICLE 2. The Town voted to transfer the sum of one hun- dred forty-nine ($149.00) dollars and 00/100 cents from the Sale of Cemetery Lots Fund to the Douglas Center Cemetery Account, said money to be used for the general improvement of said Cemetery.

Special Town Meeting Wednesday, October 30, 1957, at 7.00 P.M.


ARTICLE 1. The Town voted to dedicate the Gymnasium Ad- dition to the Douglas Memorial High School upon its completion, and as a Memorial to the men and women of Douglas who served in World War II and provide space therein for the erection of a suitable bronze plaque to be purchased and installed by the Town of Douglas Servicemen's Fund, Inc.


ARTICLE 2. The Town of Douglas voted to accept a gift of

four thousand ($4,000.00) Dollars from the Town of Douglas Serv- icemen's Fund, Inc., in accordance with the vote of the Directors of said Corporation made on August 21, 1957 with said funds "to be used for the purpose of equipment in the gymnasium and other areas of the present construction."


ARTICLE 3. The Town voted to transfer the sum of four thousand ($4,000.00) dollars from the Town of Douglas Service- men's Fund, Inc., accepted under the article above to the Addition to the Douglas Memorial High School Building Fund, said funds to be used for the purchase of equipment in the gymnasium and other areas of the present construction.


ARTICLE 4. The Town voted to appropriate the additional sum of twenty thousand ($20,000.00) dollars from free cash in the hands of the Treasurer for the Addition to the Douglas Memorial High School Building Fund, said funds to be used for the purchase and installment of equipment in the Cafeteria and the Home Eco- nomics Room and or other necessary furnishings and miscellaneous equipment.


ARTICLE 5. The Town voted to appropriate the additional sum of six hundred and ninety-one dollars and fifty-four cents ($691.54) from free cash in the hands of the Treasurer, for the School Department.

Special Town Meeting Friday, December 20, 1957 at 7.00 P.M.


ARTICLE 1. The Town voted to transfer the sum of one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars from the New Town Hall Maintenance Fund to the New Town Hall Special Repairs Account.


ARTICLE 2. The Town voted to appropriate an additional sum of sixteen hundred ($1,600.00) dollars from surplus funds in the hands of the Treasurer to the Snow Roads Account.


ARTICLE 3. The Town voted to transfer the sum of seventy- five hundred ($7,500.00) dollars from the Machinery Rentals Fund to the Machinery Account.


ARTICLE 4. The Town voted to transfer the sum of one hun- dred and fifty-six dollars and thirty-five cents ($156.35) from the Highway Compensation Insurance Fund to the Special Highway Insurance Account.


ARTICLE 5. The Town voted to appropriate an additional sum of seven hundred and twenty-five ($725.00) dollars from Sur- plus Funds in the hands of the Treasurer to the Welfare Account.

ARTICLE 6. The Town voted to appropriate an additional sum of six hundred ($600.00) dollars from surplus funds in the hands of the Treasurer to the Industrial Schools Account.


ARTICLE 7. The Town voted to transfer the sum of two hundred and sixty ($260.00) dollars from the School Bonds Premium Fund to the Treasurer's Expense Account.


ARTICLE 8. The Town voted to transfer the sum of two hun- dred and forty-seven dollars and fifty cents ($247.50) from funds in the School Bonds Premium Fund to the Douglas Memorial High School Addition Construction Account.


ARTICLE 9. The Town voted to transfer the sum of seven- teen hundred and thirty-one ($1,731.00) dollars from the Special Interest Fund accumulated from the temporary purchase and sale of U. S. Treasury 90 day notes to the Douglas Memorial High School Addition Construction Account.


ARTICLE 10. The Town voted to appropriate an additional sum of fourteen hundred and twenty-five ($1,425.00) dollars from Surplus Funds in the hands of the Treasurer to the Water De- partment Account.
