Article 14. To see if the Town will vote to locate an electric light at the junction of Main and Spruce streets, and appropriate money for the same, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.

In pursuance to the foregoing warrant, the inhabitants of the Town of Milford, qualified by law to vote in elections and in Town affairs, met in the Town Hall in said Town on Mon- day, the twenty-seventh day of May, A. D., 1895, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, and were called to order by the Town Clerk, who then read the warrant and the officer's return thereon.
Article 1. The meeting made choice of Lowell E. Fales as moderator, the check list being used.

At 7.30 in the evening on the above mentioned 27th day of May, A. D., 1895, the inhabitants of the Town of Milford met as per vote passed in the afternoon, and proceeded as fol .. lows :-
Moderator L. E. Fales called the meeting to order.
Article 2. Voted: To dispense with the reading of this By-law.
Article 3. Voted: That the Selectmen be authorized to take charge of all legal proceedings for or against the Town.
Article 4. Voted: To accept and allow the report of the Selectmen in regard to altering and straightening Holliston road near Norcross Bros.' stone sheds.
Voted: To appropriate $400 for the same.
Article 5. Voted: To accept the report of the Selectmen in the laying out of Poplar street.
Voted: To pass over the remainder of the article in rela- tion to appropriating money for the same.
Article 6. Under this article a motion was made to ac- cept and allow the report of the Selectmen on Fruit street ex- tension, which was put and lost.
Article 7. Voted: To pass over this article.
Article 8. Voted: To appropriate $500 for new hose.
Article 9. Voted: To build a new hose carriage, and that $300 be expended from the general appropriation of the Fire Department.
Article 10. Voted: To pass over this article.
Article 11. Voted: To pass over.
Article 12. Voted: To widen and grade Cedar street and appropriate $2000, on condition of the electric road being built.
Article 13. Voted: To locate an electric light on the corner of West Pine street and Gibbon avenue, and appropri- ate $100 for the same.

Article 15. Voted: To remove the present Hook and Ladder house, build a new one, and appropriate $5500 for the same, and to be built of brick.
Voted: That a committee of five (5) be appointed, con- sisting of A. A. Jenkins, J. H. Scott, John T. Kelly, James F. Baxter, and John L. Keefe, to act as a building committee.
Voted: That the committee be instructed to let the build- ing to the lowest responsible bidder.
Voted: That the Selectmen and Fire Engineers be a com- mittee to superintend the building of the new hose wagon.
Voted: To take up Article 15.
Voted: That in the erection of the building for the Fire Department the committee shall furnish the building, fully completed and equipped, at a sum not exceeding $5500, as ap- propriated.
Voted: That the remaining members of the Selectmen be added to the building committee on the Hook and Ladder house.
Article 16. Voted: To appropriate the sum of $2500 in addition to what has been already appropriated, to be expend- ed on Water street.
Voted: To dissolve the warrant.

To either constable of the Town of Milford, in said County,
Greeting:
In the name of the Commonwealth aforesaid, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of said

Town, qualified by law to vote in elections and in Town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said Town, on Tuesday, the fifth day of November, A. D., 1895, it being the first Tues- day after the first Monday, punctually at eight o'clock in the forenoon, at which time the polls will be opened for said voters to give in their ballots to the Selectmen of said Town for a Governor, Lieutenant-Governor, Councillor (Seventh Council- lor District), Secretary, Treasurer and Receiver-General; Au- ditor, and Attorney-General of the Commonwealth; a Senator for the Second Worcester Senatorial District, and two Repre- sentatives for the Eleventh Worcester District to the General Court of Massachusetts, and one District Attorney (Middle District). One Sheriff, One County Commissioner, Two Spe- cial Commissioners for said County of Worcester, all on one ballot designating the office intended for each person voted for.
Said voters will also give in their votes "Yes" or "No" in pursuance to the provisions of Chapter 436 of the Acts of the year 1895: An act authorizing persons qualified to vote for members of School Committees to vote at the next State Elec- tion upon the question of granting municipal suffrage to wo- men.
At two o'clock in the afternoon on the above mentioned fifth day of November, at the same place, there will be a meet- ing of the above described inhabitants to act upon the follow- ing articles, namely :--
Article 1. To choose a moderator to preside at said meet- ing.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to locate a hy- drant on Prospect street, and appropriate money for the same.
Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to locate a hy- drant on East Main street, near Short street, and appropriate money for the same.
Article 4. To see if the Town will authorize the Treas- urer to use any unexpended appropriations or funds in his hands unappropriated, to pay the expenses of the Town under Chapter 298 Acts of 1889, Memorial Hall, salaries Chapter

440 Acts of 1890, or take any action in relation to pay said expenses.
Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to appoint a com- mittee to obtain plans for enlarging and remodeling the pre- sent Town House, or take any action in relation thereto.
Article 6. To see if the Town will authorize the Select- men to purchase a strip of land in the rear of the Chapin street schoolhouse now owned by Margaret Hanson, and also to convey by a proper deed a triangular piece of land on Chapin street in the rear of said schoolhouse to said Hanson, or take any action in relation thereto.
Article 7. To see if the Town will accept the list of jurors as reported by the Selectmen.
And you are hereby directed to serve this warrant by posting up attested copies thereof at each of the public meet- ing houses and at the post-office in said Town; also cause an attested copy to be published in The Milford Daily News, Mil- ford Daily Journal, Milford Gazette, and Milford Times, news- papers printed in said Town, two Sabbaths at least before the time set for said meeting.

TOWN MEETING, NOV. 5, 1895.

In pursuance to the foregoing warrant, the inhabitants of the Town of Milford, qualified by law to vote in elections and in Town affairs, met in the Town Hall in said Town on Tues- day, the fifth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, and were called to or- der by the Town Clerk, who then read the warrant and the officer's return thereon.
In accordance with the provisions of Chapter 417 of the Acts of 1893, the sealed package said to contain ballots, speci- men ballots, and cards of instructions was delivered to Abbott A. Jenkins, the presiding election officer, and his receipt there- for given to the Town Clerk. The seal was then publicly broken, the package opened, and the blocks of ballots de- livered to the ballot-clerks, and one of each kind of cards of

instructions posted in each voting compartment, and five speci- men ballots and three of each of the cards of instructions were.posted in the hall outside the rail.
The ballot-box (New Gravity) required by law to be used in elections was then opened in public meeting and shown to be empty, and examined by the election officers and found to be empty. The register of the box was then set at 0000 and the box locked, and the key thereof delivered to Oliver D. Holmes, constable in attendance at said meeting.
S. C. Sumner and R. H. Cochran, appointed inspectors by the Selectmen, acted as ballot-clerks, and during their absence Clifford A. Cook and Dennis J. Sullivan, deputy inspec- tors, acted in their stead, each of them having been sworn to faithfully perform the duties of their office by the Town Clerk.
Patrick H. Curran, who had been appointed by the Select- men to check the list, was then duly sworn to faithfully per- form the duty of his office by the Town Clerk.
Thomas F. Connors, T. F. Waters, William C. Lang, J. T. Murphy, James J. Connors, Lewis Hayden, William H. Carey, H. I. Carpenter, C. A. Sumner, George W. Ellis, H. C. Tilden, Archie Boyd, A. W. Shedd, A. D. White, Arthur A. Jenkins, and Davis H. Bates, appointed tellers by the Select- men, were then sworn to faithfully perform their duties by Abbott A. Jenkins, the presiding officer.
The polls were opened at 8.05 A. M. for the reception of ballots.
Voted : To close the polls at 4.30 P. M.
Due notice having been given, the polls at 4.30 were de- clared closed.
At 2 o'clock in the afternoon on the above-mentioned fifth day of November, at the same place, the above-described in- habitants acted upon the articles in the warrant, as follows :-

At 4.30 p. M. the remaining articles in the Town warrant were taken up, and acted on as follows :--
Article 2. Voted : That the Selectmen be authorized to locate a hydrant on Prospect street, if the Water Co. will lay pipes, and appropriate $35 (usual price) for the same.
Article 3. Voted : That the Selectmen be authorized to locate a hydrant near Short street, if the Water Co. will lay pipe, and appropriate $35 (usual price) for the same.
Article 4. Voted : That the Treasurer be authorized to use any money unappropriated in his hands, to pay the ex- penses of the Town, under Chapter 298, Acts of 1889, Memori- al Hall, Salaries, and Chapter 440, Acts of 1890.

Article 5. Voted : That a committee of five (5) be ap- pointed by the moderator, to consider the matter of obtaining plans of enlarging and remodeling the present Town House, and report at some future meeting.

The moderator appointed the following persons to act up- on the committee under Article 5 : George B. Blake, Abbott A. Jenkins, William D. Leahy, Z. C. Field and M. W. Edwards.
Article 6. Voted: That the Selectmen be authorized to purchase of Margaret Hanson a strip of land in the rear of the Chapin Street schoolhouse, containing about 1554 square feet of land, and in exchange therefor be authorized to execute, acknowledge and deliver to said Hanson in the name and be- half of said Town, a good and sufficient deed of a triangular piece of land on Chapin Street, containing about 210 sq. feet of land, and also that the sum of fifty dollars ($50) be appro- priated, being the sum asked by said Hanson for making such exchange, to be paid out of the appropriation for public schools.

The business of the meeting being accomplished, the re- turns were filled and signed by the Selectmen and counter- signed by the Town Clerk, then sealed in open meeting and delivered to the Town Clerk, to be forwarded to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
The ballots cast and the list of voters used at the polls and by the ballot clerks were then sealed up and endorsed by the Selectmen and all the election officers. The ballots were then delivered into the custody of the Town Clerk and the check list retained by the Selectmen, in conformity with law in such cases made and provided. The unused ballots re- maining, all soiled and canceled, and certified by the ballot clerks to be such, were secured in an envelope, sealed, and de- livered to the Town Clerk, as provided by law.

In compliance with Section 198 of Chapter 417 of the Acts of 1893, we, the undersigned, Clerks of the Towns of Mendon, Milford, Hopedale, and Blackstone, said towns com- prising the Eleventh Worcester Representative District, have met at the Town Clerk's room, in said Town of Mendon, and examined and compared the returns of votes cast in each of said towns for two Representatives to the General Court, to be holden in Boston on the first Wednesday of January next.
Said returns were made to us as by law required, and were given in at legal meetings held in said towns for that purpose on the fifth day of November, A. D., 1895, and were for the following persons, namely :-
