The improvements and repairs which have been made in the department the past year are as follows: Engine No. 2 has had new wheels and new link blocks, and has been newly painted.
Hose wagon No. 1 has been thoroughly repaired and newly painted, and two improved truss ladders have been added to Ladder No. 1.
The buildings of the department have been repaired and

painted, and a new bath room added to Spruce street hose house.

That a combination chemical and hose wagon be pur- chased, it having been demonstrated several times in the past that this piece of apparatus would be of great advantage in the extinguishing of fires, as usually the water damage nearly equals that of fire; and that the sum of $1800 be appropriated for the same.

We believe the time has come when the Town Park should be suitably lighted, and would recommend that the town add that to their present lighting system.
