Plans are underway for Sanitary Regulations to be established, patterned after the Sanitary Code of the United States Public Health Service.
The untimely death of Dr. William J. Clancy on December 13, 1946, brought a loss to the Board that leaves us with a feeling of sincere sorrow and deep ap- preciation for his splendid efforts in maintaining the high standards of our Dental Clinic, conducting his duties courageously and faithfully.
During his approximately twenty years as a school dentist he was an efficient, capable and loyal public ser- vant, loved and respected by all thos with whom he came in contact in his professional and civic life.
We extend our sincere sympathy to his family.
Dr. John A. Cleary was appointed to fill the vacancy caused by Dr. Clancy's death.
The 1945 State subsidy received this year was One Thousand Two Dollars Eighty-eight cents ($1,002.88) .
At the March meeting the following appointments were made by the Board of Health :
Clerk, Louis A. Marino; Physician, Dr. John R. Cic- chetti; Dentist, Dr. William J. Clancy; Nurse, Alice Fitz- patrick; Sanitary Inspector, Walter Chapin; Plumbing In- spectors, Charles J. Ferrante and John F. Power as addi- tional inspector; Burial Agent, Oscar Ayotte. Jeremiah Macchi and Dr. Benjamin F. Hartman were nominated for Meat and Slaughtering Inspectors subject to the ap- proval of the State Dept. of Public Health.

REPORT OF PLUMBING INSPECTOR
To the Honorable Board of Health :
Gentlemen :
As predicted in my 1945 report there was a large increase in plumbing installations for the year 1946 and I believe 1947 will bring in a greater number.
The addition to our plumbing regulations relative to the installing of water piping by licensed plumbers only, has given to the inhabitants of the Town of Milford more protection and more surety in having their water supply properly installed. This rule has been advocated by me for many years and I feel certain that the people of Milford will benefit greatly as a result of it.
There was one case brought before our local Court for installing plumbing without a license and the person was found guilty by the Court on that count.
In the year 1946 the following plumbing fixtures were installed and after inspection were approved:
Toilets
102
Lavatories
77
Sinks
97
Bath Tubs
60
Range Boilers
38
Shower Stalls
5
Tankless Heaters
4

CHARLES J. FERRANTE,

WELFARE PHYSICIAN'S REPORT
To the Board of Public Welfare:
The majority of my two hundred and forty calls dur- ing the year were from the Town Infirmary. The men and women at the Infirmary are as a rule advanced in years, and many of them suffer from chronic ailments which are not entirely remediable, but much can be done and has been done to relieve their discomfort.

Those who are acutely ill and in need of constant care or surgical treatment are transferred to a hospital. The service of a nurse and a few small rooms where sick inmates might be isolated and quiet would be a great benefit.
The work of caring for the sick has been made easier and more pleasant by the splendid cooperation of the Board and its executives.
JOHN V. GALLAGHER, M.D.
Respectfully submitted,
JAMES DISABITO, Chairman EDWARD FERGUSON WESTLEY STEVENSON

Report of the Inspctor of Wires
January 20, 1947
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen :
The work of the Wire Inspector Department for 1946 has been along lines similar to that of former years, much of it advisory and supervision of remodeling work. In my inspections, I have found a considerable number of places where the wiring was not up to standard. Upon my suggestion to the owner, after explaining the danger of such wiring, they gladly agreed to have a licensed electrician put same into good order.
With the coming spring, when merchandise becomes more plentiful, I expect. there will be a considerable amount of new work. I urge all home owners to buy approved fixtures and materials and have the same in- stalled by licensed electricians.
I wish to state again in this report to the people of Milford that all oil burners and stokers must be inspected by the Wire Inspector. For safety of all, I urge that such work be brought to my attention.
Respectfully submitted,
MATTHEW N. NIRO,
Inspector of Wires.
