10 lbs. hard soap, 1} barrels soft soap, 15 lbs. saleratus, 180 lbs. ham, half barrel beef, 225 lbs. pork, 3 pecks salt, half bushel onions, 20 gall. vinegar, 40 gall. molasses, 42 bush. parsnips, 1} bush. carrots, 1 bush. beets, 6 bush. turnips, 10 bush. potatoes, 15 bush. potatoes, small, 3,500 lbs. coal, 2 cords oak wood, 2 cords pine wood, 25 lbs. salt fish, 2 barrels flour, 1 bush. corn, one third barrel sugar, 15 lbs. tea, 2 bush. beans, 65 lbs. lard, half ton poor hay, one cow, ten hens.
Whole amount valued at $ 250.
The Board of Overseers of Poor have received and considered numer- ous applications for aid outside the House. Many of which, as will be seen by the foregoing report, have been relieved. And still quite a number have been refused, or only partially assisted. The Board dis- criminating as carefully as possible, intending to do justice to all, and give only to the truly needy and deserving, - those disposed to help themselves. Endeavoring to keep the expenditures within the appro- priation if possible.
Your Board would recommend, that, in future the books and accounts of the Overseers be more carefully kept than in the past.
Mr. Chandler, the Superintendent, and wife, have managed the affairs of the establishment to the entire satisfaction of the Board, and we respectfully recommend to our successors in office to retain them in their present position.
