THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS
Department of Corporations and Taxation Division of Accounts State House, Boston
December 27, 1929.
To the Board of Selectmen,
Mr. Sidney C. Soule, Chairman, Duxbury, Massachusetts
Gentlemen :
I submit herewith my report of an audit of the accounts of the tax collector of the town of Duxbury for the period from January 1 to November 30, 1929, made in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44 of the General Laws. This report is in the form of a report made to me by Mr. Edward H. Fenton, Chief Accountant of this Division.
Very truly yours, THEODORE N. WADDELL, Director of Accounts.
Mr. Theodore N. Waddell, Director of Accounts,
Department of Corporations and Taxation, State House, Boston.
Sir :
In accordance with your instructions, I have made an examination of the books and accounts of George H. Stearns, Collector of Taxes for the town of Duxbury, for
-69-
the period from January 1 to November 30, 1929, and submit the following report thereon :
The commitments of taxes for the levy of 1929 were proved with the assessors' warrant, the payments to the treasurer for the levies of 1926 to 1929, inclusive, were checked with the records of the treasurer, the abatements were checked with the assessors' records of abatements granted, and the outstanding taxes were marked "R. C." to identify the accounts to be recommitted to the tax collector pro tempore.
In addition, the town treasurer's cash was verified as of November 30, 1929, and the bank accounts were reconciled with statements furnished by the bank.
Respectfully submitted, EDWARD H. FENTON, Chief Accountant.
