In accordance with the foregoing warrant, the voters assembled in their respective precincts to cast their ballots for the several Town Officers also to vote yes or no on the adoption of Chapter 56 of the Acts of 1936 relative to the Representative Form of Government.


The polls were opened in all precincts at five forty-five o'clock in the forenoon and were closed at three o'clock in the afternoon. The following Election Officers served:

At the opening of the polls the ballot boxes were inspected and found to be empty and the registers set at zero 0). The keys were placed in charge of the Constables of their respective precincts. The meetings were conducted in like manner and in accordance with the law.


At the close of the polls when all votes had been canvassed, counted, recorded and ballots sealed according to law they wer,e then forwarded to the Town Cerk's office where the figures werel tabu- lated, proved and the result declared by the Board of Registrars.

WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS


Norfolk, ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of Brain- tree. Greeting:


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in Town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said Braintree.


On Monday, the sixteenth day of March, 1936, at eight o'clock in the evening, to act on the following article, namely :-


ARTICLE 1. To see if the Town will vote to accept Chapter 45 of the Acts of 1936 entitled, "An Act Relative to the Payment of the Cost of Construction of Particular Sewers and Connecting Drains in - the Town of Braintree", or take any action relative thereto.


You are directed to serve this Warrant by posting true nad at- tested copies thereof in three pubic places in each voting precinct in said Town of Braintree ten days at least before said sixteenth day of March, 1936, and by publishing the same once each week for two suc- cessive weeks in the Braintree Observer, first publication to be at least eight days before said meeting.


Hereof fail not and mak edue return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk before said meeting.

The Annual Town Meeting was called to order at 7:45 P. M. by Moderator William F. Rogers. The voters were checked on enter- ing building - 1,209 present. Amplifiers were installed throughout the lower hall and lobbies for the convenience of the voters ...


ARTICLE 1.


Voted: To elect three Measurers of Wood and Weighers of Hay. Charles G. Sheppard, Wilford F. Woodsum and R. Allen Gage elected.


Voted: To elect three Measurers of Lumber. Herbert W. Bor- den, Shelley A. Neal and Charles O. Miller elected.


ARTICLE 2.


Voted: That Article 2 be taken up in conjunction with other ar- ticles in the warrant.


ARTICLE 3.


Voted: That the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Se- lectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1936, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws. - Unanimous vote.


ARTICLE 4.


Voted: That the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Se- lectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow money fro mtime to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1937, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws. - Unanimous vote.


ARTICLE 5.

ARTICLE 6.


Voted: That the Town will hold its Treasurer, harmless on his bond for any loss which may arise from the failure of any National Bank or Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit, said Bank or Trust Company being designated by the Se- lectmen:

Voted: That the Town will hold its Collector harmless on his bond for any loss which may arise from the failure of any National Bank or Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit, said Bank or Trust Company being designated by the Se- lectmen.


UNDER ARTICLE 2.


The Finance Committee desires to bring to the attention. of the Town the passing during the past year of one of our most esteemed. and valued citizens, Mr. William P. Kelley. Mr. Kelley served this Town in many capacities, as Moderator of the Town Meeting, as

Chairman of the Finance Committee, on building committees, as a leader in better government for our community and as a friend of his fellowmen. We regret that he is no longer with us, we shall miss his advice and his help.


For the Finance Committee and for the Town, Mr. Storm moved: That this meeting stand in silence one minute in his memory, as a. small acknowledgment of his services to us.

ARTICLE 14. To see if the Town will vote to accept as a town way, CEDARCLIFF ROAD, so-called, as laid out by the selectmen, from Shaw Street to Quincy Avenue, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the said way,


ARTICLE 15. To see if the Town will vote to accept as a town way, BROOKSIDE ROAD, so-called, as laid out by the selectmen, from Commercial Street to Stetson Street, and raise and appropriate a sum of mnoey for the improvement of the said way.


You are directed to serve this warrant by posting true and at- tested copies thereof in three public places in each voting precinct in said Town of Braintree ten days at least before said twenty-third day of March, 1936, and by publishing the same once each week for two successive weeks in the Braintree Observer, first publication to be at least eight days before said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk before said meeting.

The adjourned Town Meetin was called to order at 7:50 P. M. by Moderator William F. Rogers. The voters were checked on en- tering building - 418 present. Amplifiers were installed throughout the hall and lobbies for the convenience of the voters.


Voted that the reading of the records of the last session be dis- pensed with.
