Article 28. ON PETITION. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the widening of the Bridge on JEFFERSON STREET, South Braintree; or take any action relative thereto.

To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $250.00 for the improvement of a certain parcel of land shown as Plot No. 65 on Assessors' Plan No. 3022, on the easterly side of Faxon Street, owned by the Town under Tax Title Foreclosure procedure, for use as a Public Skating Rink; or take any action rela- tive thereto.

To hear the report of the Committee appointed under Article 83 of the 1941 Annual Town Meeting; and to see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum or sums of money for the improvement of the HOLLIS FIELD, in accordance with report of said committee; or take any action relative thereto.

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING -
Braintree, March 16, 1942.
The Annual Town Meeting was called to order at 7:50 p.m. by Moderator William F. Rogers. The Town Meeting Members were checked on entering-202 being present.
Prayer was offered by Reverend Forrest R. Brown.
Town Meeting Members present were duly sworn into office by the Town Clerk, Ernest C. Woodsum.
ARTICLE 1.
Voted: To elect three Measurers of Wood and Weighers of Hay: Willard P. Sheppard, R. Allen Gage and Walter J. O'Brien elected.
Voted: To elect three Measurers of Lumber: Herbert W. Borden, Shelley A. Neal and Charles O. Miller elected.
ARTICLE 2.
Voted: That Article 2 be taken up in conjunction with all other articles.
ARTICLE 3.
Voted: That the Town Treasurer. with the approval of the Select- men, be and hereby is authorized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1942, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws .- Unanimous vote-7:56.

Mr. Ralph B. Woodsum offered the following resolution :

WHEREAS, the rapid rise in the general price level during the past several months, due to the war emergency, has brought about a temporarily abnormal relation between the cost of living and the sal- aries paid many of its employees by the Town of Braintree, to the disadvantage of said employees,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That, during the calendar year 1942 and not thereafter, extra compensation shall be paid to each person employed on January 1, 1942, by the Town of Braintree as a full-time employee (listed and defined on pages 5, 6, of the Recom- mendations of the Finance Committee) and whose annual salary in all capacities. computed for a calendar year of 52 weeks on the basis of the rate in effect on January 1, 1942, with respect to such person, is within one of the salary groups hereafter specified, and said extra compensation shall be that percentage of such rate as is indicated oppo- site the group in which such annual salary falls :
