southwesterly by land of Marois and land of Harlow 200 feet to a corner of land of Malaguti; thence northwesterly by land of Malaguti, 180 feet, more or less, to the point of beginning; containing an area of 0.75 acres, more or less, being a portion of land conveyed by Plymouth Savings Bank to Reginald J. and Mary E. Marois, and described as follows: Beginning at a point on Braunecker Road at a corner of land now or formerly of Amedio Malaguti, said point is approximately 520 feet southwesterly from the Westerly Route, thence running easterly by Braunecker Road 200 feet more or less to remaining land of Marois: Thence southeasterly by Marois land 150 feet, more or less, to a point in line of land of Marois; thence southwesterly by land of Marois and land of Harlow 200 feet to a corner of land of Malaguti: thence northwesterly by land of Malaguti 180 feet more or less, to the point of beginning containing an area of 0.75 acres, more or less, being a portion of land conveyed by Plymouth Savings Bank to Reginald J. and Mary E. Marois, October 6, 1945, and recorded in Plymouth County Reg- istry of Deeds, Book 1929, Page 172, and that the Town further vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000 therefor.


Article 40. To see if the Town will authorize the Water Commissioners to lay water mains not less than six inches in diameter in Standish Avenue northerly from Alden Street, Braunecker Road, Cordage Terrace and other adjacent streets and parts of streets, including hydrants, valves, serv- ices and other appurtenances as necessary and to construct a storage tank of 500.000 gallon capacity, more or less, and to enter into all necessary contracts for the above purposes and to appropriate therefor the sum of One Hundred Thou- sand Dollars ($100,000). To meet this appropriation the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be

authorized to borrow a sum not exceeding One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) and to issue therefor bonds or notes of the Town payable in accordance with Section 19 of Chapter 44 of the General Laws so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than fifteen (15) years after the date of the issuance of the first bond or note, or at such earlier date as the Treasurer or Selectmen may determine.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $100,000.00, this amount to be borrowed by the Town Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen.

Voted: (Unanimously) That the Town authorize the Water Commissioners to lay water main of not less than six inches in diameter in Strand Avenue in Manomet for a distance of about 1,180 feet, connecting the present main in Point Road with the main already in service near Holmes Road, including fire hydrants. services and other appurten- ances as necessary and to raise and appropriate the sum of $6,317 therefor.

Article 42. To see if the Town will authorize the Water Commissioners to purchase a certain area of land near Wanno's Pond, sometimes known as Warner's Pond, Mano- met, owned by Ralph and Mildred F. Brooks for the further protection of the water supply, said land being shown on a subdivision plan dated March 4, 1951, as lots 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24, together with a part of a right of way shown as Brooks Lane, and make an appropriation therefor.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $2,600.00 for the purchase of this land, as recommended by the State Department of Public Health to protect the water supply.


Voted: (Unanimously) That the Town authorize the Water Commissioners to purchase a certain parcel of land near Wanno's Pond, sometimes known as Warner's Pond, for the further protection of the water supply, said parcel being shown on a plan entitled "Subdivision Plan of land of Ralph E. Brooks and Mildred F. Brooks, Plymouth, Massachusetts, March 4, 1951, Delano & Keith, Surveyors, 1"-40'", duly recorded in the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds, as lots 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24, together with the fee in that part of Brooks Lane lying northerly of the intersection of Brooks Lane and Beverly Lane and bounded and des- cribed as follows: Northwesterly by Acacia Road 356.53' thence northeasterly by a brook and land by Ralph E. Article 43. To see what action the Town will take with reference to authorizing the Water Commissioners to acquire from the Roman Catholic Archbishop a certain parcel of land containing approximately .70 acres and lying southeasterly of Wanno's Pond in Plymouth and being a portion of Lot 6, Plat 48, of the Plymouth Assessors' Plans of the Town of Plymouth, and to make an appropriation therefor.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $350.00 for the purchase of this land, as recommended by the State Department of Public Health to protect the water supply.

Voted: (Unanimously) That the Town authorize the Water Commissioners to acquire from the Roman Catholic Archbishop a certain parcel of land containing approxi- mately .70 acres and lying southeasterly of Wanno's Pond in Plymouth, being a portion of Lot 6, Plat 48 of the Assessors' Plans and bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a cement bound, set in the center of Wanno's Pond Brook, which flows from Wanno's Pond southerly into Fresh Pond, said bound bears S59° 50' W and is distant 364.60 feet from another cement bound a corner of land of the Town of Plymouth and land of Ralph E. & Mildred Brooks, thence N19° 30' W by Wanno's Pond Brook 55 feet to a point in line of land of the Town of Plymouth and land of the heirs of Frances Hovey, thence by land of the Hovey Heirs N 26° 43' E 440 feet more or less to a point in line of land of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston, thence by land of the Roman Catholic Archbishop east 65 feet more or less to a point, thence S25° 4' 20" E still by land of the Roman Catholic Archbishop 40 feet more or less to land of Joffrey T. Article 44. To see what action the Town will take with reference to authorizing the Water Commissioners to acquire from Porter T. Harlow a certain strip or parcel of land approximately forty feet in width by approximately two hun- dred and fifteen feet in length and lying on the southwesterly side of Wanno's Pond in Plymouth and off the easterly side of Bartlett Road and being a portion of the premises shown as Lot 47, Plat 48 of the Plymouth Assessors' Plans of the Town of Plymouth, and to make an appropriation therefor.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $1.00 for the purchase of this land, as recommended by the State Department of Public Health to protect the water supply.


Voted: (Unanimously) That the Town authorize the Water Commissioners to acquire from Porter T. Harlow a certain parcel of land on the southwesterly side of Wanno's Pond, being a portion of Lot 47, Plat 48 of the Assessors' Plans and bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a cement bound, a corner of land of the land of the Town of Plymouth

Article 45. To see if the Town will authorize the Water Commissioners to lay a water main of not less than six inches in diameter for a total distance of about 1,430 feet in so-called Cheryl and Thrush Avenues as shown on a plan of a sub- division owned by Porter T. Harlow et al as approved by the Planning Board on November 6, 1952, including fire hydrants, services and other appurtenances as necessary, and to make an appropriation therefor; such authorization and appropria- tion to be contingent upon the payment to the Town by the owner or owners of said development of the amount of Three Dollars ($3.00) per linear foot of main in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Water Department as adopted December 12, 1950.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $6,144.00, provided $3,690.00 has been received, prior to town meeting, by the town treasurer from the owner of the development, representing $3.00 per linear foot of main to be laid in said development, to meet a portion of this appropriation.


Voted: (Unanimously) That the Town authorize the Water Commissioners to lay a water main of not less than six inches in diameter for a total distance of about 1,430 feet in socalled Cheryl and Thrush Avenues, as shown on a plan of a subdivision, owned by Porter T. Harlow, et al, as approved by the Planning Board on November 6, 1952, including fire hydrants, services and other appurtenances as necessary, and to raise and appropriate the sum of $6,144, therefor, and that to meet said appropriation, the sum of $2,454 be appropriated from the tax levy of the current year and $3,690 from money in the Town Treasury received from the owner of the development, representing, $3 per linear foot of main to be laid in said development.,

Article 46. To see if the Town will authorize the Water Commissioners to lay a water main of not less than six inches in diameter for a distance of about 930 feet in so-called Woodland Avenue as shown on a plan of a subdivision of land off the State Road in Manomet owned by Anthony Di- Staula, which plan was approved by the Planning Board on June 30, 1952, including fire hydrants, services and other appurtenances as necessary and to make an appropriation therefor; such authorization and appropriation to be con- tingent upon the payment to the Town by the owner of said development of a sum of Three Dollars ($3.00) per linear foot of main in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Water Department as adopted December 12, 1950.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $3,801.50, provided $2,790.00 has been received, prior to town meeting, by the town treasurer from the owner of the development, representing $3.00 per linear foot of main to be laid in said development, to meet a portion of this appropriation.


Voted: That the Town take no action under Article 46.


Article 47. To see if the Town will authorize the Water Commissioners to lay a main of not less than six inches in diameter for a distance of about 900 feet in a subdivision of land off Sandwich Road, owned by Enrico Ferrari, as shown on a plan approved by the Planning Board on January 14, 1953, including fire hydrants, services and other appurte- nances as necessary, and to make an appropriation therefor; such authorization and appropriation to be contingent upon the payment to the Town by the owner of said development of the sum of Three Dollars ($3.00) per linear foot of main in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Water Department as adopted December 12, 1950.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $4,745.00, provided $2,700.00 has been received, prior to town meeting, by the town treasurer from the owner of the development, representing $3.00 per linear foot of main to be laid in said development, to meet a portion of this appropriation.

Article 48. To see if the Town will authorize the Water Commissioners to lay water mains of not less than six inches in diameter in Cape Cod Avenue, part of Reed Avenue, Melix Avenue, part of State Highway, part of White Street, part of First Street and Second Street, together with fire hydrants, services and other appurtenances as necessary to supply water to the inhabitants in the above-mentioned territory, and to appropriate therefor the sum of Thirty-two Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($32,500.00). To meet the appropria- tion the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be authorized to borrow a sum not exceeding Thirty-two Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($32,500) and to issue therefor bonds or notes of the Town payable in accordance with Section 19 of Chapter 44 of the General Laws so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than fifteen (15) years after the date of the issuance of the first bond or note, or at such earlier date as the Treasurer or Selectmen may determine. The authorization contingent upon said streets being accepted by the Town.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $32,500.00, this amount to be borrowed by the town treasurer with the approval of the selectmen, provided these streets are accepted under Article 36.


Voted: (Unanimously) That the Town authorize the Water Commissioners to lay water mains of not less than six inches in diameter in Cape Cod Avenue, part of Reed Avenue, Melix Avenue, part of State Highway, part of White Street, part of First Street and Second Street, together with fire hydrants, services and other appurtenances as necessary, that the Town further raise and appropriate the sum of $32,500 therefor and that, to meet this appropriation, the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of $32,500 and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, payable in accordance with Section 19 of Chapter 44 of the General Laws, so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than 15 years after the date of the issuance of the first bond or note, or at such earlier date as the Treasurer or Selectmen may determine.

Article 49. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Fifty-eight Hundred Dollars ($5,800) for the cost of reshingling the roof of the Mt. Pleasant School and repairing the roofs of the Hedge, Cornish and Burton School Buildings.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $5,800.00.


Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $5,800 for the cost of reshingling the roof of the Mount Pleasant School and repairing the roofs of the Hedge, Cornish and Burton School.


Article 50. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Thirty - three Hundred Dollars ($3,300) for making repairs and improvements in the toilet rooms in the north and south wings of the Hedge School; said repairs to include: replacement' of boys' urinals, im- proved ventilation and improved lighting.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $3,300.00.

Article 52. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Eleven Hundred Dollars ($1,100) to repair the gutters on the Junior-Senior High School.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $1,100.00.


Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $1,100 to repair the gutters on the Junior-Senior High School.

Article 53. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Twenty-nine Hundred and Sixty-five Dollars ($2,965) to install soundproofing material on the ceiling of the High School Gymnasium.


The Committee recommends no action.


Voted: That the Town take no action under Article 53.


Article 54. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) to purchase permanent playground equipment for the elemen- tary schools, this to be the first step in a program to provide adequate playground apparatus for the pupils in the elemen- tary schools.


The Committee recommends an appropriation of $1,000.00.


Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $1.000 to purchase school play equipment for the elementary Schools.


Article 55. To see if the Town will instruct the Mod- erator to appoint a committee of six consisting of two mem- bers of the School Committee and four other members, for the purpose of studying future school enrollments and to report to the Town on school-housing needs, report to be filed with the Town Clerk by December, 1953.


The Committee recommends no action.


Voted: That the Town take no action under Article 55.


Article 56. To see if the Town will accept and allow as a Town way an extension of John Alden Road in the Pris- cilla Beach section of Plymouth from Warrendale Road, northwesterly about 500 feet as laid out by the Selectmen and reported to the Town, and make an appropriation for land and property damages and expenses for acquiring titles.


The Committee recommends the acceptance of this street with an appropriation of $100.00 for expenses of acquiring titles. Planning Board has approved this layout.


Voted: (Unanimously) That the Town accept and allow as a Town Way, an extension of John Alden Road in the Priscilla Beach section of Plymouth, from Warrendale Road northwesterly about 500 feet, as laid out by the Selectmen and reported to the Town, and to raise and appropriate the sum of $100 for land and property damages and expenses of acquiring titles.

Article 57. To see if the Town will accept and allow as a Town way portions of Watercourse Road and Rocky Pond Road (also known as Widgeon Pond Road), a road leading southwesterly from the end of the 1952 layout of Billington Street about 12,000 feet to the Myles Standish State Forest as laid out by the Selectmen and reported to the Town and make an appropriation for land and property damages and expenses for acquiring titles.


The Committee recommends the acceptance of the portion of these roads laid out, by the selectmen, with an appropriation of $250.00 for expenses of acquiring titles. The causeway, so-called, of approximately 1,200 feet, has been omitted. Planning Board has approved this layout.


Voted: (Unanimously) That the Town accept and allow as a Town Way portions of Watercourse Road and Rocky Pond Road (also known as Widgeon Pond Road) as laid out by the Selectmen and reported to the Town, and to raise and appropriate the sum of $250 for land and property damages and expenses of acquiring titles.


Article 58. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Forty-five Hundred Dollars ($4,500) to grade and gravel approximately one mile of Watercourse Road and Rocky Pond Road (also known as Widgeon Pond Road).


The Committee recommends no action.


Voted: That the Town take no action under Article 58.


On motion of Frankland Miles, the meeting was ad- journed until Monday, March 30, 1953 at eight p.m.


ADJOURNED MEETING, MARCH 30, 1953


Voted: To take up Articles 59 to 64 inclusive as one article and refer this Article to the Planning Board for study and the construction of waterfront protection along our seacoast and to raise and appropriate the sum of $2,500 to be added to the Planning Board appropriation, for expenses of engineering services, etc.


Article 59. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of Four Thousand Dollars ($4,000) to be spent in conjunc- tion with sums to be provided by the State or County, or both and any or all abutters, for the construction of water-

front protection at Harlow's Landing near Black Pond in Ellisville; the Town to assume liability as provided by Sec- tion 29, Chapter 91 of the General Laws as amended for all damages incurred hereunder.


The Committee recommends that Articles 59 to 64 inclusive be taken up as one article and referred to the Planning Board for a complete study of waterfront protection and that the Planning Board budget appropriation be increased by $2,500.00 to permit them to secure competent engineering services.


Article 60. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1,500) to be spent in conjunc- tion with sums to be provided by the State or County, or both and any or all abutters for the construction of water- front protection at High Cliff; the Town to assume liability as provided by Section 29, Chapter 91 of the General Laws as amended for all damages incurred hereunder.

Article 61. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000) to be spent in conjunction with sums to be provided by the State or County, or both for the construction of waterfront protection at Long Beach, so-called, (a continuation of 1952 work) ; the Town to assume liability as provided by Section 29, Chapter 91 of the General Laws as amended for damages incurred hereunder.

Article 62. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of Twenty-five Hundred Dollars ($2,500) to be spent in con- junction with sums to be provided by the State or County, or both for the construction of waterfront protection at East White Horse Beach south of Bartlett Brook, so-called; the Town to assume liability as provided by Section 29, Chapter 91 of the General Laws as amended for all damages incurred hereunder.
