AUDITOR'S REPORT.
I have met with the Selectmen and examined all bills brought against the town, and approved the same. Amounting to $8,131.41.
I have examined the books and accounts of the Selectmen and find them correct and properly vouched, I have also examined the books of the Treasurerand Collector.
I find that he has collected from taxes, $5,272 74
and that he has received from other sources, 9,013 37
Making a total, $14,286 11
That he has paid 293 orders of Selectmen, amounting to, $8,131 41 He has paid notes, interest and other acc'ts, amounting to, 6,154 70 Making a total paid, . $14,286 11
All of which is properly vouched.
I find there is cash in the hands of the Treasurer and
unpaid taxes, amounting to $5,804 84
There is also taxes in the hands of F. R. Foster,
600 00
and taxes in the hands of L. M. Hanff, 33 94
Making in all, $6,438 78
I find the liabilities of the town are,
$20,600 00
And the assets,
13,034 78
Being a balance against the town of,
$7,565 22
I have examined the books and accounts of the Overseers' of the Poor and find them correet and properly vouched.
The Auditor would recommend some changes in the manner of doing business of the town officers, and also in the time of paying taxes, in order to simplyfy the business of the town and to aid the people who have bills against the town.
