OF THE


FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY.


On account of the limited appropriation of the town for this year, your Trustees have made no purchases of books, preferring to combine the small balance with the appropriation for another year.


The sum of ten dollars will be expended in rebinding books, after which all will be in good condition. No book has been lost during the year.


The number of books taken from the Library by readers is 2618; nearly 200 more than the previous report.

FOR


TOWN MEETING, MARCH 6TH, 1893.


WORCESTER, SS. TO EITHER OF THE CONSTABLES OF THE TOWN OF RUTLAND :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are di- rected to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Rutland qualified to vote in elections and in Town affairs, to meet in the Town Hall in said Rutland, on Monday, the sixth day of March next, at nine o'clock in the forenoon, to act on the following Articles, to wit :


1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.


2. To choose a Town Clerk for the ensuing year.


3. To see if the Town will accept the Reports of the Town Officers for the past year, or act thereon.


4. To choose all necessary Town Officers and Committees for the ensuing year.


5. To determine the compensation of Treasurer and Collector of Taxes.


6. To see what sums of money the Town will raise for the sup- port of the Public schools; for repairs on the Highways; for the support of the Poor; for lighting Street Lamps; for use Memorial Day ; for Contingent Expenses and Paying Debts ; and appropriate the same.

7. To see if the Town will accept the list of Jurors, as present- ed by the Selectmen.


8. To see if the Town will authorize the Treasurer to borrow money for the use of the Town, under the direction of the Select- men.


9. To see if the Town will instruct their Assessors to abate any taxes in the hands of their Collector.


10. To see what interest shall be paid on taxes not paid in a specified time.


11. To vote by ballot, Yes or No, to the question, Shall License be granted for the sale of Intoxicating Liquors in this Town.


12. To see if the Towu will vote to support their Poor on the co-operative plan, with any or all of the Towns of Hubbardston, Holden, Oakham, Princeton, Paxton or Westminster in some place with said Towns; and choose a Committee with authority to form an association according to provisions of Law, or do, or act any- thing relating thereto.


13. To see if the Town will vote to rent their Town Farm for a term of years ; or sell, or act thereon.


14. To see what action the Town will take in regard to a claim against the Town, brought by B. F. Browning, for damages caused by drainage of the Highway ; also claim of L. Q. Spaulding, Auditor.


15. To see what method the Town will adopt for digging and filling Graves and attending funerals with the Hearse, the ensuing year


16. To see if the Town will anthorize the School Committee to provide transportation for children of school age to and from school- houses remote from their homes, and make appropriations to carry the same into effect, or act thereon.

17. To see if the Town will accept the provisions of Chapter 431 of the Acts of 1888, relating to the employment of a superin- tendent of schools, and appropriate money therefor.


18. To determine the manner of warning future meetings.


And you are directed to serve tbis Warrant, by posting attested copies thereof, agreeable to the vote of said Town, seven days at least before the time of holding said meeting. Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, at the time and place of meeting as aforesaid.
