Art. 25. Voted, That the town accept the bequest to it under the will of the late Charles Q. Tirrell, under the condition as stated in will.

Art. 43. Voted, To appropriate and direct to be paid to the trustees of the sinking fund out of the income of the water rents for the current year the sum of $10,000 to be set apart and invested as a sinking fund for the payment at maturity of the Weymouth water loan bonds.

Voted, To request the Town Council if there is any way to equalize the taxes assessed during the past two years, or to reimburse the taxpayers of Wards One and Two for the excess taxes they paid, on account of increased valuation, and whether there is any legal way to adjust in due equitable manner the in- justice done our people of these two wards in the two years past.
Art. 57. Voted, That this article be referred to the Selectmen.

The adjourned annual meeting was held in the Town Hall on Monday, March 16, 1914, at 7 o'clock P. M., the meeting being called to order by the Moderator, Hon. Louis A. Cook.
Voted, To take up Article 63.
Voted, To reconsider the vote whereby it was voted not to raise and appropriate the sum of $76,000 for a new school house in Ward 3.
A motion was then made to raise and appropriate the sum of $76,000 for a new school building in Ward 3, but it was not car- ried, the result of the vote being yes 372, no 413.
A motion was then made to raise and appropriate $75,500 for the same purpose, but on motion of Mr. Guertin it was voted that the subject matter be indefinately postponed ; yes, 414, no, 363.
Voted, To take up Article 22.
Voted, That the committee on the Police Station be requested to makea report, which they did partially.
Voted, To reconsider the vote whereby it was voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,499.99 to finish the police station.
Voted, To raise and appropriate the sum of $3,000 to finish the police station under the direction of the Selectmen.
At this time of the meeting Dr. Field, chairman of the Fish and Game Commission of the State, addressed the people in re- lative to the Alewive fisheries also spoke on the subject of clams.
Voted, That the thanks of the town be extended to him for his valuable information.
Art. 64. Voted, To raise and appropriate the sum of $100 and to further appropriate the unexpended balance of the appro- priation for the repairs to Ward Three engine house for the pur- pose of installing a heater in said building.
Art. 65. That the Selectmen be instructed to call all future town meetings in the evening.
A motion to reconsider the above was lost.
Art. 66. Voted, To authorize the Selectmen to sell any real estate of which the town may be possessed and for which it has no further use but not unless held by auction except the Selectmen may sell land owned by the town as a result of un- redeemed tax sale.

Town Meeting covering twenty-five years, deems it appropriate to give formal expression to its sense of the marked efficiency with which the duties of this position have been performed during this long period, and the Town Clerk is hereby instructed to con- vey the formal thanks of the town to Hon. Louis A. Cook, afore- said, for his long and honorable service, and to spread this action upon the records of the town.

NORFOLK, SS. To the Constables in the Town of Weymouth in said County. GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of Weymonth, aforesaid, qualified to vote in town affairs, to meet in the Odd Fellows Opera House on Wednesday, July twenty-second, 1914, at seven o'clock and thirty minutes in the evening, then and there to act upon the following articles, namely :

Article 1. To choose a Moderator.
Art. 2. To hear and act upon the report of any committee appointed at any former meeting and to choose any committees the town may think proper.
Art. 3. On petition of M. E. Hawes and eighteen others : To see if the town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money to purchase a combination auto for the Fire Department of the town, or take any other action in relation thereto.
Art. 4. On petition of Frank H. Torrey and fourteen others ; To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of thirty- five hundred dollars ($3,500) for the purchase of a combination fire truck, to be located in Ward One, and to make such altera- tions in the present fire house as may be needed to accommodate the same.
Art. 5. On petition of Matthew O'Dowd and seventeen others : To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of nine thousand dollars ($9,000) for the purchase of an auto fire truck with pump, to be located in Ward Five, South Weymouth, or take any action in relation to the same.
Art. 6. On petition of Peter E. Sullivan and one hundred others : To see if the town will vote that hereafter, all town employees who are secured, employed or placed at work in the aforesaid town of Weymouth as employees of the aforesaid town. shall be and must be citizens of said town.
And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting a copy thereof, attested by you in writing, in each of two public places in each voting precinct in said town seven days at least before the time of holding said meeting.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk of said town, at or before the time of said meeting.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING.
Pursuant to the foregoing Warrant a meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Weymouth was held at the Odd Fellows Opera House, East Weymouth, on Wednesday, July 22, 1914, at 7.30 o'clock in the evening, the meeting being called to order and the Warrant was read by the Town Clerk.
Article 1. William J. Holbrook, Esq., was elected as Moderator by ballot, and the oath was administered to him by the Town Clerk.
Art. 2. The Committee appointed at the last annual town meeting to consider the needs of the Fire Department submitted the following preliminary report :
" We recommend that the town purchase a first-class auto- mobile pumping machine with chemical tank, hose capacity, lad- ders and full equipment, to be located at the Broad Street House in Ward 2, also one combination hose and chemical combination car to be located at the hose house in Ward 1.
" We recommend that the Broad Street house be fitted for at least one permanent man who shall be on duty at all times and shall sleep in the house. The motor car in this house to respond to all fire alarms.
" That the town purchase and install a universal non-interfer- ing fire alarmbox to be installed at the Broad Street house from which any box or location may be rung by a phone message to the central house.
" We recommend the immediate installation of meters to con- serve the supply of water in mains.
" We estimate the expense of the appropriations above specified together with the cost of changing and furnishing the building to

house this apparatus and the salary of a permanent man at Ward 2 will be about $19,000.
" We urge the importance of regulations to prohibit the use of iuflamable material for roofing in the town."
Voted, That the report be accepted.
Art. 3. The Moderator appointed B. B. Wright and W. J. Sladen as tellers, and administered the oath to them.
Voted, That the town purchase a first.class automobile pump- ing machine, with chemical tank, hose capacity, ladder and full equipment, to be located at the discretion of the committee herein- after named ; that the house be properly equipped to care for the machine, and for this purpose to appropriate $2000 from any available funds in the treasury, and further appropriate $10,000, the same to be raised by a loan, for which purpose five notes of the town shall be issued by the Town Treasurer, with the appro- val of the Selectmen, said notes to be in a series of $2000 each, and payable-one July 1, 1915; one July 1, 1916; one July 1, 1917; one July 1, 1918, and one July 1, 1919-each of said notes to bear interest not to exceed four and one-half per cent per annum ; and that Robert S. Hoffman, Frank E. Loud, David S. Kidder and the Board of Engineers of the Town be a com- mittee to execute all the provisions of this act so far as purchas- ing the machine is concerned.
The result of the above vote was-Yes, 280; no, 102.
Voted, Not to reconsider the above vote.
Art. 4. Voted, To raise and appropriate the sum of $3500 for the purchase of a combination fire truck to be located in Ward 1, and make such alterations in the present house as may be needed to accommodate the same, and that the same committee appointed under Article 3 purchase the machine.
The result of the above vote was-Yes, 344; no, 2.
Voted, Not to reconsider the above vote.
Art. 5. Voted, To raise by a loan and appropriate the sum of $7000 for the purchase of an auto fire truck with pump, to be located in Ward 5, South Weymouth, and further appropriate for the same purpose $2000 from any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, and that for the foregoing purpose four notes of the town be issued by the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, one of which for $2000 shall be due July 1, 1915; one for $2000 shall be due July 1, 1916; one for $2000

shall be due July 1, 1917, and one for $1000 shall be due July 1, 1918-each of said notes to bear interest not to exceed four and one-half per cent. per annum.
The result of the above vote was yes, 274, no, 16.

Voted, That the same committee appointed under Article 3 purchase the machine.
Art. 6. Voted, That hereafter all town laborers, to wit: men used and worked at the Moth Department, in the work of main- taining the highways and all work relating thereto, and those em- ployed as laborers in connection with the works of the Water Department, preference shall be given to residents of the town of Weymouth.
