In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of Weymouth aforesaid quali- fied to vote in Town affairs to meet in the hall of the Weymouth High School on
MONDAY, THE TWENTY-FIFTH DAY OF MAY, 1953
at seven o'clock and forty-five minutes in the evening, then and there to act upon the following Articles, namely:
ARTICLE 1. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of General School Building Committee.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation or otherwise, and appropriate, for the construc- tion of an addition to the Pond School, including the alterations to the building that are necessary to connect the addition thereto and to install a new oil-fired boiler, and for the purchase of the necessary furniture and equipment, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 2. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of School Committee.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of preparing com- plete plans and detailed specifications, in order that bids may be secured for constructon of an addition to the Elden H. Johnson School, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 3. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of School Committee.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of preparing com- plete plans and detailed specifications, in order that bids may be secured

for ine construction of a new school house on town land which, is now under control of the School Committee and which is located on the rear of the Weymouth High School, or take any other action thereto.
ARTICLE 4. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of School Committee.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of acquiring by gift, purchase, or eminent domain in fee, part of Lot 1, Block 237, as ap- pears on Sheets 18, 21 and 22 of the Atlas of the Town of Weymouth for the year 1951, which land abuts the school property in the rear of the High School and which would furnish a means of entrance and exit to Broad Street Place or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 5. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of School Committee.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of acquiring by gift, purchase, or eminent domain in fee, Lot 14, Block 534, Sheets 46 and 47 as appears in the Atlas of the Town of Weymouth for the year 1951, containing about 428,250 square feet, as the site of an elementary school, and an abutting parcel of land to furnish a means of entrance and exit to Ralph Talbot Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 6. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of Com- mittee appointed by Moderator under Article 40 of the 1952 Annual Town Meeting.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxa- tion or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of acquiring by gift, purchase, or eminent domain, in fee, for park or playground purposes the land now or formerly of Bradley Park Development, Inc., and described as follows:
Lots Nos. 106 to 118 inclusive and Lots Nos. 128 to 138 inclusive, to- gether with all right, title and interest of the grantor to the fee and/or easement in and to the Streets called Bradley Road, Bradley Place and Baylee Road all as shown on a map entitled Plan of the Great Hill sub- division, (North) Weymouth, Mass." dated November 12, 1947 made by R. N. Linke, C. E., approved by the Weymouth Planning Board, April 24, 1950, filed Norfolk Registry May 9, 1950 as Plan No. 479 of 1940 in Plan Book No. 157, excepting a small triangle to the West of Lots No. 119 and 120 formed by an extension westerly of the Northerly line of Lot 119, the Easterly side line of Bradley Road and the Westerly boundary line of Lots 119 and 120 as shown on said map, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.
ARTICLE 7. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of the Park Department.) To see if the Moderator will appoint a committee of five to study the possibilities of the town preserving the House Rock and the purchase of land thereabouts for historical purposes and to make a re- port to the next Annual Town Meeting, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.
ARTICLE 8. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of the Park Department.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the development of the green at the beginning of Bald Eagle Road, said plot of land to be dedicated in honor of Corporal Arthur Low Adams, late of 229 Pleasant Street, who was killed while serving with the Armed Forces of the United States, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 9. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see if the 'T'own will ap- prapriate from available funds (Excess and Deficiency Account) the sum

of $6,500.00 for the use of Committee To Prevent Juvenile Delinquency as appointed in accordance with Article 2 of the Annual Town Meeting 1953, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 10. (By Direction of Selectmen and on Petition of Ralph Talbot Chapter No. 65, Disabled American Veterans of Weymouth.) To see if the Town will accept from the Ralph Talbot Chapter No. 65, Dis- abled American Veterans of Weymouth as a gft a Bronze Plaque in Com- memoration of the sinking of the U. S. S. Maine in Havana Harbor in 1898 and a suitable location for same be provided in the Town Hall, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 11. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of the Building Inspector.) To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Town Moderator to appoint a committee of five to make a study of the drainage problems within the Town of Weymouth, and that the sum of $1,000.00 be raised and appropriated for any engineering work, etc. necessary for complete report and recommendation of corrective measures to the next Annual Town Meeting.
ARTICLE 12. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of the Town Hall Associates.) To see what action the Town will take relative to striking out Sec. 626 of the By-Laws of the Town of Weymouth, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 13. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of $6,500 from available funds to be used for the completion of new streets, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 14. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see if the Town will raise by taxation or otherwise, and appropriate a sufficient sum of money to provide drainage on Common Street, between Washington Street and Stetson Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 15. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from available funds a sum of money to renovate the second floor of the Town Infirmary Building, for additional office space, work to include the installation of lights and telephones, painting and the repair of the outside steps, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 16. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see what action the Town will take for the installation of parking meters in various sections of the Town, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 17. (By Direction of Selectmen and on Petition by the Smelt Brook Merchants Association.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purpose of acquiring by purchase for a public parking area, the following described land, namely: The land now or formerly of C. H. Rogers Realty Corporation and being shown on a plan entitled "Plan of Land in Weymouth, Mass." made by Russell H. Whiting, Civil Engineer, dated March 10, 1953 and containing about 16,800 square feet of land according to said plan, to which plan reference may be had for a more particular description, and that the Board of Selectmen are hereby authorized to acquire by purchase said land, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 18. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see what sum of money the Town will raise, appropriate, transfer or otherwise for the purpose of a preliminary examination of one end of the Town Hall, or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 19. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see what sum of money the Town will raise, appropriate, transfer or otherwise for the purpose of repairing either or both ends of the Town Hall, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 20. (By Direction of Selectmen and on Petition of John B. Giorgio and others.) To see what action the Town will take to eliminate a curve at or near 345 Summer Street, to furnish a sum of money for said purpose, or take any other action in relation thereto.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING Monday, May 25, 1953
Pursuant to a Warrant duly issued, the Special Town Meeting of the and qualified Town Meeting Members, was held in the hall of the Wey- inhabitants of the Town of Weymouth, represented by their duly elected mouth High School on Monday, May 25, 1953.
The Meeting was called to order at 8:00 o'clock in the evening by the Annual Moderator, Mr. Daniel L. O'Donnell.
The Town Clerk, Mr. Harry Christensen, read the call of the Meeting.
Town Meeting Members not sworn in were administered the oath by the Moderator.
There were 191 Town Meeting Members present. The Moderator de- clared a quorum present.
Prayer asking for Divine Guidance at this Town Meeting was of- fered by the Rev. Fr. Francis A. Barry, Pastor of St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Church, North Weymouth.
Upon motion duly made it was unanimously
MOVED: That the reading of the Articles in the Warrant be sus- pended.
We now continue with consideration of the Articles in the Warrant.
ARTICLE 1. (By Direction of Selectmen and at Request of General School Building Committee.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation or otherwise, and appropriate, for the construc- tion of an addition to the Pond School, including the alterations to the building that are necessary to connect the addition thereto and to in- stall a new oil-fired boiler, and for the purchase of the necessary furni- ture and equipment; or take any other action in relation thereto.
Mr. Roulston of the Appropriation Committee explained the reason for the change in the motion from that contained in the printed copy.
Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, it was unanimously
VOTED: That the sum of $188,170.00 be appropriated for the con- struction of a five class room and associated facilities addition to and increasing the floor space of the Pond School Building including the alterations in the present building that are necessary to connect the addtion thereto, for furnishings and equipment of said addition and to install a new oil-fired boiler in the present building. Of this sum, $10,000.00 shall be appropriated from the Excess and Deficiency Account to pay the cost of installing the new oil-fired boiler in the present building. To raise the balance of said appropriation, $23,170.00 shall be appropriated from the Excess and Deficiency Account, and the Treasurer, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, is hereby authorized to borrow $150,000.00 and to issue bonds under authority of Section 7, Clause 3 of Chapter 44 of the General Laws as amended and payable in accordance with Section 19 of said chapter so that the whole loan shall be payable in not more than 20 years. The sums appropriated shall be expended under the direction of the committee of seven appointed in accordance with Article 4 in the Warrant for the Special Town Meeting of Novem- ber 20, 1950. $150,000.00

Johnson School. The sum appropriated shall be expended under the direction of the committee appointed by the moderator for the construction of the original Johnson School.

MOVED by the Appropriation Committee:
That the sum of $25,000.00 be appropriated from the Excess and De- ficiency Account for the purpose of preparing complete plans and de- tailed specifications in order that bids may be secured for the construction of a new 12 room school, similar to the Elden H. Johnson School, on town land which is now under the control of the School Committee and which is located in the rear of the Weymouth High School. The sum appro- priated shall be expended under the direction of the committee of eleven appointed in accordance with Article 3 in the warrant of the Special Town Meeting of June 23, 1952. $25,000.00
MOVED by Mr. Lane to amend by changing the last sentence of the motion to read as follows :
The sum appropriated shall be expended under the direction of a Committee of eleven members to be appointed by the Annual moderator.
