That the sum of $28,000.00 be appropriated from the Excess and De- ficiency Account for the purpose of preparing complete plans and speci- fications in order that bids may be secured for the construction of a two- story 12 classroom elementary school on Lot 14, Block 534, as appears in the Atlas of the Town of Weymouth for the year 1951 .. The sum approp- riated shall be expended by a committee of seven to be appointed by the Moderator. $28,000.00

The sum appropriated shall be expended by a committee of seven to be appointed by the Moderator. The Building Committee shall be instructed to study the relative costs of

To see what sum cf money the Town will vote to raise by taxation or otherwise, and ap- propriate, for the purpose of acquiring by gift, purchase, or eminent domain, in fee, part of Lot 30, Block 457, Sheets 37 and 41, as appears in the Atlas of the Town of Weymouth for the year 1951, containing about 357,000 square feet, as the site for an elementary school, or take any other action in relation thereto.


Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, it was UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED


That the subject matter of this Article be referred to a future Town Meeting.


ARTICLE 6. (At Request of Weymouth Light and Power Company and by Direction of the School Committee.) To see what action the Town will take in granting an easement to the Weymouth Light and Power Company for the purpose of running a transmission line on school property at the Elden Johnson School.


Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, it was UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED


That the Town grant an easement to the Weymouth Light and Power Company for the purpose of running a transmission line on school property at the Elden H. Johnson School, and that the Town Counsel and the School Committee draw up the proper legal papers necessary.

That the sum of $500.00 be transferred from the Sewer Department Account to the Town Hall Maintenance Account for the maintenance of the Town Hall Annex. $500.00


ARTICLE 12. (At Request of Trustees of Tufts Library.) To see if the Town will raise by taxation or otherwise the sum of $9,000.00 to com- plete plans and specifications for a branch library building to be located on land purchased for that purpose at North Weymouth, to be expended under the direction of the Trustees of Tufts Library, or take any other action in relation thereto.

That the sum of $5,000.00 be transferred from the Renovation of Tufts Library Account to complete plans and detailed specifications of a branch library building at North Weymouth, the cost of building and equipping said branch not to exceed $75,000.00 The sum transferred shall be expended under the direction of the Trustees of Tufts Library.

Gentlemen:


Submitted herewith is the Annual Report of the Town Clerk for the year ending December 31, 1953:


Again, as in 1952, there was an increase in fees collected by the De- partment. Fees collected totalled $5,975.00, or an increase of $66.70. -


Again this year the Town received a check from the Norfolk County Treasurer in the amount of $3,784.96 as a refund from dog licenses issued during the year. This sum will again be used for school purposes, as provided by State statute.


The private office, as provided for the Town Clerk by your Board during the year, has been furnished and has remedied a condition which has existed for some time.


I should like to extend my thanks to your Board and all departments for the courtesies and co-operation given to me during the year.

The total number of births received and recorded during the year 1953, at the time of going to press were as follows:


Total number, 2,116. Of this number, 1,060 were males and 1,056 were females. Of to the total number, 979 were children born to Weymouth residents.


MARRIAGES


The total number of Marriage Certificates received and recorded during the year, at the time of going to press, was 401.
