NEW HIGH SCHOOL HOUSE AND TOWN HALL.

At the annual meeting in March, 1892, Thomas O. Cole, F. B. Lee and Thomas F. Bailey were chosen a committee to prepare plans and estimates for a new High school house and Town hall. That committee reported at the annual meeting in March, 1893, two plans. First-A plan for a single building which would accommodate a High school and Town hall. Second-Plans for a new High school building, and for the enlargement and refitting of the old Town hall. The committee recommended the plan for two buildings. The Town voted to adopt the plan favored by the committee and to erect a new High school house, and to enlarge and refit the present Town hall, and that the work be done under the direction of the Selectmen and the School Committee. It was estimated that the cost of build- ing and furnishing the new school house would be about $5,000, and that the cost of the proposed changes to the Town hall, and furnishing, would be about $3,000; making a total of-say $8,000. It was also voted to raise $8,000 by taxation, $4,000 to be assessed this year, and $4,000 to be assessed in 1894. Agreeably to these votes the building committee proceeded with the work and give herewith figures showing that the amounts paid for High school building aggregate $4,640.38. Add amount due for furnace, $393.13, making a total cost of $5,033.51.
