Article 36. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money, not exceeding $600.00 to prepare Assessor's plans. (Assessors) .


Article 37. To determine if the voters will direct the moderator to appoint a committee of six to inves- tigate the addition of fluorine preparations to the water supply for the prevention of dental caries, said committee to make a written report and recommenda- tion to the Town for the following Annual Town Meet- ing. This committee shall include, if possible, one member of the Board of Health and one member of the Board of Water Commissioners.

Article 46. To see if the Town will vote to amend its By-laws, by adding thereto the following, viz :


"No person or corporation shall erect or main- tain any building on any new development of land or any subdivision thereof nearer than twen- ty-five feet from the street line or within less than ten feet from the adjoining land on the sides, and no lot on any subdivision shall be less than 80 feet frontage or less than 100 feet deep.


"Whoever violates any of the provisions of this By-law shall be punished by a fine of not more than twenty dollars."


Article 47. To see if the Town will vote to amend its By-laws, by adding thereto the following, viz:


"No person shall park, store or occupy a trailer or mobile home for living or business purposes except :


A. In a garage or other accessory building, or in the rear half of a lot occupied by the owner of the trailer or mobile home, but it must be located at least 25 feet from the rear and side lot lines, and its use for living or business pur- poses is prohibited.


B. The owner or occupant of a parcel of land may permit occupancy of such land by a non- paying guest, using a trailer or mobile home for living purposes for a period not exceeding two weeks in any calendar year. A permit for this purpose must be obtained from the Board of Selectmen or its agent before the land can be so occupied.

C. As a temporary office or dwelling, inciden- tal to continuous construction on the site on which the trailer or mobile home is located. In no case may a trailer or mobile home be so occupied for longer than two years. A permit for this purpose, approved and signed by the Board of Health, must be obtained from the Board of Selectmen or its agent by the owner of land.


"Whoever violates any of the provisions of this By-law shall be punished by a fine of not more than twenty dollars."


Article 48. To see if the Town will vote to become a member of the Southeastern Mass. Regional Plan- ning District under the provisions of Chapter 40B of the General Laws and appropriate a sum of money therefor or take any action thereto.


Article 49. To see if the Town will vote to amend its By-laws by adding thereto the following :


"Section 1. - No person shall hunt or fire or dis- charge any firearm on Mattapoisett Neck south- erly from Molly's Cove.


"Section 2. -- This By-law shall not apply to the lawful defense of life or property, nor to any law enforcement officer acting in the discharge of his duties.


"Section 3. - Any person violating any of the pro- visions of this By-law shall be punished by a fine of not more than fifty dollars for each offense."

Article 50. To see if the Town will vote to accept the layout of Tobey Lane Extension from present end- ing, easterly to Pearl Street, in accordance with Chap- ter 79 of the General Laws, as per plan and layout with boundaries and measurements thereon filed in the office of the Town Clerk, and raise and appropriate the sum of $75.00 for the bounding of same, or act any- thing thereon or thereunto.


Article 51. To see if the Town will vote to accept the layout of Mechanic Street Extension from Ham- mond Street northerly to County Street (State High- way) in accordance with Chapter 79 of the General Laws, as per plan and layout with boundaries and measurements thereon filed in the office of the Town Clerk, and raise and appropriate the sum of $75.00 for the bounding of same, or act anything thereon or thereunto.


Article 52. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to pay any land damage awards made necessary by Article 50 and 51.


Article 53. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to resurface the ex- tension of Tobey Lane, or take any action in relation thereto.


Article 54. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds in the Treasury, a sum of money for the permanent con- struction of Mechanic Street Extension, or take any action in relation thereto.


Article 55. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $3000 to continue (north- erly) the widening and resurfacing of Crystal Spring Road. (Requested by the taxpayers of said Road).

Article 58. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $8100 for the purchase of a new Truck for the Highway Department to re- place the present 1940 Truck which is in very poor condition. (Highway Surveyor).


Article 59. To see if the Town will vote to trade or dispose of the present 1940 Highway Truck.


Article 60. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $900 to continue the re- surfacing of Pearl Street Extension. (Highway Sur- veyor) .


Article 61. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $2200 to resurface Main Street starting at Route #6 northerly to corner of Cathaway Lane and Acushnet Road. (Highway Sur- veyor) .


Article 62. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for Mosquito Control in accordance with a bill now before the legislature entitled "An Act Creating a Mosquito Control Project in Plymouth County."

All the above to be voted for on one ballot.


The Polls for Election of Officers will be open at the Town Hall at twelve o'clock noon and shall close at eight P. M.


Both of said days will constitute the Annual Town Meeting.


You are directed to serve this Warrant by posting up attested copies thereof at the several places desig- nated in the Town By-Laws, seven days at least be- fore the day appointed for said Meeting.

Report of the Mattapoisett Housing Authority


The Mattapoisett Housing Authority was created under Sections 26-I to 26-WW inclusive, of Chapter 121 of the Tercentenary Edition of the General Laws, as amended. The act to provide housing for Veterans was created under Chapter 200 of the acts of 1948, as amended.


There were no significant changes in the member- ship of the Authority; John Rafael was re-elected at the town election to his seat on the Authority and at the annual meeting held on March 15, 1956, George B. Monteiro was reappointed Executive Director and Secretary for one year.
