The town has never appropriated any money for either of these two objects, nor authorized any person to draw on the treasurer therefor ; but the total amount was paid on the orders of the Selection, out of money specially set apart for other purposes, and was thus diverted from the objects for which it was raised and appropriated by the town.

It is respectfully suggested that the town house and school house property ought to beentered on the Treasurer's books, las/well as the(I engine houses, andother items which already appear in the accounts ; so that thre books of the town shall always exhibit, at a fair valuation, all the property owned by the town.
