4,768 86

According to these accounts, the expenditures, during the year, for support of the poor, including taxes, and interest on the cost of the farm, have been as stated above, $2,092 22

And the receipts from sales of property from the farm, and from sundry persons, towards the support of the poor, have been 1,243 87

And there has been a gain in the value of the per- sonal property on hand, of 187 20

$1,431 07

Which, deducted, leaves an excess of expenditure of

661 15

which is the amount paid by the town, for support of the poor, in addition to the income from the farm.

The cash in the treasury January 30, 1863, was, 957 49 Add the Town appropriation for 1863, 500 00

Total, $1,457 49

Deduct the excess of the expenditure as stated above, 661 15

The remainder is the cash in the treasury January 30, 1864, 796 34

13

From these statements it appears that there was no necessity for any appropriation for this object, the last year; and probably the balance in the treasury at this time will be sufficient to meet the ex- penditures of the ensuing year, without any further appropriations.

There is due to the town from Mr. S. L. Morse, the sum of $30, for use of the pasture and meadow in the Cemetery lot.

And there is also due to the High School fund the sum of $8, from two scholars from Sturbridge, for tuition in the school for the Fall Term of 1863.

Respectfully submitted.

S. M. LANE, Toun Treasurer.
