WORCESTER, Ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of Southbridge, in the County of Worcester.


GREETING:


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachu- setts you are hereby requested to notify the inhabitants of the town of Southbridge, aforesaid, qualified to vote in town affairs, to meet in the Town Hall in said Southbridge, on the sixth (6) day of March, 1916, at 5.45 o'clock in the forenoon, to act on the following articles: The polls will open at 5.45 o'clock in the forenoon and will close at 4.00 o'clock in the afternoon.


Article 1. To choose a moderator to preside over said meeting.


Art. 2. To choose by ballot all necessary town officers for the ensuing year, viz: Clerk, Treasurer, three Selectmen, three Overseers of Poor, Collector of Taxes, one Assessor for three years, one member of Board of Health for three years, two members of School Committee for three years, three members of Park Commission, one Sinking Fund Commissioner for three years, Tree Warden, Highway Surveyor, seven mem- bers of Planning Board and three Constables.

Art. 3. To vote by ballot "Yes" or "No" in an- swer to the question: "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town."


Art. 4. To hear the reports of the Town Account- ant, Treasurer, Clerk, Selectmen, Library Committee, etc., and to act thereon.


Art. 5. To raise and appropriate such sums of money as may be necessary to pay town debts and charges for the ensuing year or act anything thereon.


Art. 6. To see if the town vill vote to authorize the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money in anticipation of the revenue of the current financial year, or act anything thereon.


Art. 7. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to cause an audit to be made of the town's accounts for 1915, or act anything thereon.


Art. 8. To see if the town will vote to pay the Enginemen, or act thereon.


Art. 9. To see if the town will vote to fix the compensation of town officers, laborers and teams, or act anything thereon.


Art. 10. To see if the town will vote to give the Tax Collector the same power to collect taxes that the Town Treasurer has when appointed collector, or act anything thereon.


Art. 11. To hear the report of the Sewer Com- missioners regarding the transfer of accounts and act thereon.

the macadam road on Eastford Road and Crane street, and that the Town Accountant be authorized to trans- fer the unexpended balances of the Charlton and East Main Streets and North Woodstock Road Accounts to these accounts, raise and appropriate money there- for or act thereon.


Art. 13. To see if the town will vote to pave or macadamize Mechanic Street, raise and appro- priate money therefor or act thereon.


Art. 14. To see if the town will vote to build a macadam road on East Main Street, raise and appro- priate money therefor, or act thereon.


Art. 15. To see if the town will vote to build a cement concrete sidewalk on the easterly side of Oliver Street, from Hamilton Street to River Street, raise and appropriate money therefor, or act anything thereon.


Art. 16. To see if the town will vote to build a cement concrete sidewalk on the northerly side of Main Street, in front of the Notre Dame Church property, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Act. 17. To see if the town will vote to build a cement concrete sidewalk on the easterly side of Thom- as Street from Charlton Street to Olney Avenue, raise and appropriate money therefor or act thereon.


Art. 18. To see if the town will vote to build a cement concrete sidewalk on the southerly side of Hart- well Street, from Eastford Road to Marcy Street, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.

a concrete sidewalk on the easterly side of Mechanic Street, from Charlton Street to the junction of Wor- cester and Mechanic Streets, raise and appropriate money, or act anything thereon.


Art. 20. To see if the town will vote to accept the provisions of Section 20 and 21 of Chapter 25, of the Revised Laws of the Commonweath relative to the purchase or lease of land, and. the erection, alteration, enlargement, repairing and improving buildings for public baths and wash houses, and also for the opening of bathing places, and the making of regulations for the management of the same, or act anything thereon.


Art. 21. To see if the town will vote to erect and maintain public bath and wash houses on land of the Hamilton Woolen Company on the south side of the "Big Pond" socalled, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 22. To see if the town will vote to improve the land on Dresser Street to be used as a public park, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 23. To see if the town will vote to accept the provisions of the Revised Laws of the Common- wealth, Chapter 162, Sections, 122-123-124-125-126 and 127, and amendments thereto, relating to the Smoke Nuisance, or act anything thereon.


Art. 24. To see if the town will vote to appoint a Committee and to authorize the same to procure plans for a new primary school building to be erected on Marcy Street Extension, socalled, on land recently pur-

chased from Mrs. Ellen J. Bartholomew, raise and ap- propriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 25. To see if the town will vote to purchase a new fire engine or repair the present engine at the No. 1 Fire House on Elm Street, raise and appropriate money therefore or act anything thereon.


Art. 26. To see if the town will vote to accept the provisions of Section 22 of Chapter 25 of the Revised Laws of the Commonwealth, and also the provisions of Section 1 of Chapter 289 of the Acts of 1909 of the said Commonwealth, relating to the sprinkling or spreading upon its public ways, or parts thereof, water or any liquid or material suitable for laying or preventing dust and preserving the surface thereof, and for sani- tary purposes, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 27. To see if the town will vote to construct a sewer in Chestnut street, from Main street to the present sewer in said street.


Art. 28. To see if the town will vote to construct a sewer in Dresser, Sayles and Glover streets, from Marcy street to High street.


Art. 29. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Town Accountant to transfer to the Chestnut street and the Dresser, Sayles and Glover streets sewer ac- counts, the unexpended balances in the Cliff street, Hartwell street and Eastford road sewer accounts, or act anything thereon.


Art. 30. To see if the town will vote to lay a permanent pavement on Elm street, from Main street

to the junction with Everett street, raise and appro- priate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 31. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $3,000 to continue the repair of Eastford road, or act anything thereon.


Art. 32. To see if the town will vote the sum of five hundred dollars to provide suitable rifle ranges, erect anything necessary thereon and assist in defray- ing any other necessary expenses attendant upon main- taining and increasing the military efficiency of the Southbridge Rifles, an independent company devoted to the stimulation of local patriotism and military preparedness.


Art. 33. To see if the town will vote to authorize the School Committee to procure plans for a new pri- mary school building to be erected on Marcy street ex- tension, socalled, on land recently purchased from Mrs. Ellen J. Bartholomew, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 34. To see if the town will vote to accept the report of the Selectmen as to the laying out of a pub- lic way a certain way leading from West Main Street northerly over land of Norval Newell, Charles Proulx, Samuel Simonds, Southern New England Railroad Corporation and others, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 35. To see if the town will vote to build a cement concrete bridge over Lebanon brook, socalled, at Sandersdale, raise and appropriate money there- for or act anything thereon.

Art. 36. To see if the town will vote to cause the houses on all of the streets in the town to be re- numbered, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 37. To see if the town will install fifteen (15) street lights on the North Woodstock Road, from the end of the present line to the house of Charles M. Morse, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 38. To see if the town will vote to improve the street at the junction of Cliff and Clark streets, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 39. To hear and act upon the report of the Committee appointed to confer with the Southbridge Water Supply Company in relation to extending their pipes to Sandersdale.


Art. 40. To see if the town will vote to improve Marcy street for a distance of about 400 feet southerly from Dresser street, raise and appropriate money there- for or act anything thereon.


Art. 41. To see if the town will vote to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of its incorporation and to publish the proceedings of said celebration, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Art. 42. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $5,000.00 to continue the macadam road on the North Woodstock road, or act anything thereon.

the report of the Selectmen as to the re-location of Charlton street, from the end of the layout made by the County Commissioners near the Cemetery northerly, to the southerly side of Vinton street, raise and appropriate money therefor or act thereon.


And you are directed to serve this Warrant by publishing an attested copy thereof twice in the South- bridge Press and Herald, the first publication being not less than nine days next preceding the day of the meeting,-or by posting up such attested copies in four conspicuous public places within the town, at least nine days, including Sundays,-before the day of holding said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this War- rant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk at the time and place hereinbefore named.
