Our need of additional room is of course growing greater day by day. It seems almost impossible that

the library should remain much longer in its quarters. It will very soon be necessary to box and store in the museum, books which are seldom called for, the diffi- culty about doing this is that the very book which has not been called for in perhaps two years is suddenly eagerly desired by a borrower. However, there seems to be a more immediate prospect of the new library building than there has been at any time heretofore.

OF THE


BOARD OF HEALTH 1


To the Honorable Board of Selectmen.


GENTLEMEN :


In compliance with the public statutes the Board of Health herewith presents its annual report. includ- ing those of the Agent of the Board, Inspector of Plumbing and the Milk Inspector, for the year ending December 31, 1912.


The Board organized with Dr. George Webster, chairman; J. Anatole Caron, secretary, it has held monthly and special meetings as required or needed.


The town has been free from any epidemics of contagious diseases, there having been but eight cases of diphtheria, two of scarlet fever, one of typhoid fever and one of infantile paralysis reported in the last twelve months, the typhoid fever report we feel is re- markable, as many of our people drink water during the summer months from wells that are either poluted or not frequently used, this is in a great measure due, to the unpleasant color, odor and taste of the water supplied to the people by the Southbridge Water Sup-
