Pursuant to adjournment the inhabitants of the Town of Arlington, 1 qualified to vote in elections and Town affairs, met in the Town Hall, in said Town, on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of March in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and five, and were called to order at thirty minutes after seven o'clock in the evening by the Moderator, Walter A. Robinson.

"To see if the Town will make an appropriation for the con- struction of sewers in a portion of Pleasant Street, Kensington Road, Kensington Park, Brantwood Road and Acton Street."
Voted, unanimously: - On motion of Frank W. Hodgdon, that the sum of fifty-seven hundred (5700) dollars be appropriated for the con- struction of sewers in Pleasant Street, Kensington Road, Kensington

Park, Brantwood Road and Acton Street, and that thirty-five hundred (3500) dollars thereof be raised by issuing four notes of the Town, one for five hundred (500) dollars, payable in the year 1910, and three for one thousand (1,000) dollars each, payable one in each of the years 1911, 1912 and 1913, and that the remainder, to wit, twenty-two hundred (2200) dollars, being the estimated amount of the assessments to be levied in connection with the construction of said sewers; be raised by issuing a note or notes of the Town for the whole or any part or parts thereof as the Board of Public Works may from time to time require, payable at such time or times as the Selectmen may approve. The Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, may renew from time to time any and all of said last mentioned notes, all of which last mentioned notes and the renewals thereof, whether by way of first or other renewal, shall mature within ten (10) years from the dates of issue of the original notes, and all said assessments shall be pledged and applied to their payment. All notes and bonds given as above pro- vided in this vote shall be signed, countersigned and issued in accord- ance with the provisions of law and of the By-Laws of the Town, and shall bear interest payable semi-annually at a rate not exceeding four per centum per annum.

"To see what action the Town will take in regard to the exten- sion of water mains and make an appropriation for the same."
Article 43.
"To see if the Town will vote to issue serial notes to the amount of seven thousand (7,000) dollars for the purpose of refunding and cancelling a bond of four thousand (4,000) dollars dated December 15th, 1903, and a bond of three thousand (3,000) dollars dated De- cember 15th, 1904, numbered respectively 133 and 134, issued for water purposes, under the Act of 1892, and both on thirty (30) years' time, and determine the number, dates, times and amount of said notes."
Voted, unanimously: - Under Article 42, that the sum of two thou- sand (2,000) dollars be appropriated for the extension of water mains and that that sum be borrowed.
Voted, unanimously: - Under Articles 42 and 43, that bond No. 133 dated Dec. 15th. 1903 on thirty (30) years' time for $4,000, and bond No. 134 dated Dec. 15th, 1904 on the same time for $3,000, issued for water purposes under Chapter 412 of the Acts of 1892, be refunded and cancelled; and that for the purpose of raising the two thousand (2,000) dollars appropriated at this meeting for the extension of water mains, nine notes or bonds of the Town be issued, each for one thousand (1,000) dollars, the first payable in the year 1910, and the remainder, one in each of the eight (8) consecutive years thereafter; said notes or bonds to be signed, countersigned and issued in accordance with the provisions of law and of the By-Laws of the Town, and to bear interest payable semi-annually at a rate of not exceeding four per centum per annum.

Voted: - On motion of Frank W. Hodgdon, that there be appropri- ated the sum of one hundred and fifteen (115) dollars for the purchase of a fire-proof safe for the use of the Assessors.

Voted: - On motion of Frank W. Hodgdon, that the sum of six hun- dred and seventy-five (675) dollars be appropriated for the Board of Health, six hundred (600) dollars of said sum for the incidental ex- penses of the year 1905 and seventy-five (75) dollars for the Inspector of Slaughtering for the balance of the year 1905.
Voted: - On motion of Frank W. Hodgdon, that the sum of seventeen hundred and fifty (1750) dollars be appropriated for the maintenance of the Town cemeteries, fifteen hundred (1500) dollars of that sum to be used for the expenses of the year 1905 and two hundred and fifty . (250) dollars to pay the balance due for the construction of the receiv- ing vault.
Voted: - On motion of James A. Bailey, Jr., that the sum of one hundred and seventy-five (175) dollars be appropriated for the pur- chase of an apparatus for testing electric currents and the inspection of said currents, the same to be expended under the direction of the Selectmen.

Lane and George P. Winn, they not being on the Water Board at this time, and on mo- tion of Chas. S. Parker the names of Samuel E. Kimball and William N. Winn were substituted.

Hodgdon, that the several amounts appropriated at this meeting for the purposes indicated by the various votes, and not otherwise provided for, amounting to one hundred and sixty-four thousand and three dollars and ninety-nine cents (164,003,- 99), together with the sum of eleven thousand, eight hundred and sev- enty-five (11,875) dollars appropriated at the Town Meetings held No- vember 8th, 16th and 28th and December 6th and 28th, 1904, and Janu-

TOWN WARRANT.
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS, MIDDLESEX, SS.
To Garritt Barry, A Constable of the Town of Arlington, in said County, GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Arlington, who are qualified to vote in elections and Town affairs, to assemble in the Town Hall, on Tuesday, the second day of May next, at 7.30 o'clock, P. M., then and there to act on the following articles, viz: -
ARTICLE 1. To choose a Moderator to preside over said meeting.
ART. 2. To hear and act on the reports of Committees heretofore ap- pointed.
ART. 3. To see if the Town will vote to tear down, or otherwise dispose of, any or all the buildings on the Town House Site, excepting the Alvin Robbins house, so called, and make appropriation therefor, or take any action in relation thereto.
ART. 4. To see if the town will vote to fill in and level and improve the Town House Site, and make an appropriation therefor, or take any action in relation thereto.
ART. 5. To see if the Town will appoint a Committee to consider and report at a subsequent meeting what action the Town shall take with reference to constructing a building in which Town Meetings may be held lawfully, or with reference to petitioning the General Court for a modification of the existing form of town government, or take any action in relation thereto.
ART. 6. To see if the Town will vote to adopt the following by-law relative to collecting junk, etc., to be known as Section 9, under Article 13:
Article 13.
Section 9. No person shall purchase, sell, barter for or collect old metals, rags and other second hand articles without having first received a license so to do from the Board of Selectmen. Any per- son who shall violate this by-law shall be punished by a fine not exceeding twenty dollars for each offense.
ART. 7. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Chapter 103 of the Revised Laws, relative to the supervision of plumb- ing.

ART. 8. To see if the Town will vote to appoint a Committee of not less than three competent and unprejudiced men to thoroughly investi- gate the question of municipal lighting and to make a written report thereupon, and will appropriate the sum of three hundred dollars, or such part thereof as may be required to be expended by said committee in the preparation of its report.

In pursuance of the foregoing warrant the inhabitants of the Town of Arlington, qualified to vote in elections and Town affairs, met in the Town Hall, in said Town, on Tuesday, the second day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and five, and were called to order at thirty minutes after seven o'clock in the evening by the Town Clerk, who read the warrant calling the meeting and the return thereof of the Constable who served the same upon the inhabi- tants.
First Article taken up.
"To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting."
Horace A. Freeman and Omar W. Whittemore were appointed Tellers to sort and count ballots for Moderator and were sworn to the faithful discharge of their duties by the Town Clerk.
The polls were declared open for reception of votes for Moderator and were kept open, by vote of the meeting, two minutes, when they were declared closed and declaration was made that two ballots had been cast both bearing the name of Walter A. Robinson and he was de- clared elected Moderator and sworn by the Town Clerk.
Frank W. Hodgdon presented the report of the Committee of Twenty- one, to whom were referred, by a previous vote of the Town, all articles . in the warrant calling for an appropriation. The report was in printed form and was distributed to all the voters present.
Voted: - That the report of the Committee of Twenty-one be re- ceived.

Article 3.
"To see if the Town will vote to tear down, or otherwise dispose of, any or all the buildings on the Town House Site, excepting the Alvin Robbins house, so called, and make an appropriation there- for, or take any action in relation thereto."

Voted: - On motion of Melvin L. Severy, that this meeting do hereby appoint a Committee of Home Rule and Betterment, with power to ex- tend its membership and to fill vacancies, and to serve for the ensuing year, or until their successors are chosen.
Voted: - On motion of Melvin L. Severy, that J. Prescott Gage, Horace D. Hardy, Timothy O'Leary and Philip A. Hendrick be nomi- nated and elected to serve as members of the Committee on Home Rule and Betterment for the ensuing year.

Hodgdon, that all the funds re- ceived by the Town in payment for supplies furnished or work done by the Gipsy Moth Committee on private lands for individual citizens and paid for out of the Town appropriation, be appropriated and made available for the further expenses of the Gipsy Moth Committee.

Voted: - On motion of Melvin L. Severy, that the citizens of Arling- ton hereby respectfully request that the School Committee take immedi- ate and active measures looking toward the establishment in all the Town schools of a daily drill in proper breathing and chest develop- ment, the results attained by each pupil to form part of his general school record and to be separately recorded upon each of his report cards, and that said Committee report to the Town at its first Fall Town Meeting what action it has then taken and what further action it proposes to take in the matter.
Voted: - On motion of James A. Bailey, Jr., that the consideration of Articles 11 and 12 be indefinitely postponed.
Voted: - That the meeting be now dissolved.

ART. 4. To see if the Town will designate a public officer or board to have charge, under the advice and general direction of the state superintendent, of the work of destroying the gipsy and brown-tail moths.
ART. 5. To see if the Town will make an appropriation to provide additional vault room for the safe keeping of all public records as re- quired by law.
