Article 39 taken up. (Dedication of "Crusher Lot" to Park Purposes.)


Voted (unanimously) : That the Town dedicate to, and use for, the purpose of a public park the parcel of land hereinafter described, being a portion of the land of the Town sometimes called the "Crusher Lot"; and that the Board of Park Commissioners be and hereby is authorized to locate a public park thereon.

Article 40 taken up. (Gift of "Howitzer.")


Voted: That the Town accept the gift by Arlington Post 1775 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, of one 105 millimeter German howitzer, now located upon the park at the junction of Massachusetts Avenue and Broadway.


Article 41 taken up. (Modification of Vote: Re County Hospital.)


Voted (unanimously) : That the Town do not, under Article 41 of the Warrant, modify or rescind the vote passed on January 27, 1932, under Article 8 of the War- rant for the special meeting on that date, nor appropri- ate any sum, nor make any election, mentioned in said Article 41, such matters having been disposed of at the meeting held March 15, 1932.


Article 42 taken up. (Authorizing Leasing of Menotomy Hall.)


Voted (unanimously) : That the present and each future Board of Selectmen be and hereby is authorized to let or lease from time to time, for not more than five (5) years, on such terms as it determines, all or any por- tion or portions of the Menotomy Hall Building.


Article 43 taken up. (Work Relating to Employ- ment.)

Article 44 taken up. (Improvement of Meadowbrook Park.)


Voted (unanimously) : That the sum of fifteen hun- dred ($1500) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the grading and improvement of "Meadowbrook Park"; said sum to be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the Board of Park Commissioners.


Article 45 taken up. (Improvement of Grounds : Junior High School West.)


Voted (unanimously) : That the sum of three thousand ($3,000) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the grading and improvement of the grounds of the "Junior High School West"; said sum to be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the School Committee.


Article 46 taken up. (Improvement of High School Grounds.)


Voted (unanimously) : That the sum of two thou- sand ($2,000) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the grading and improvement of the High School grounds and the driveways in connection therewith; said sum to be raised by general tax and expended under the direc- tion of the School Committee.


Article 47 taken up. (Eradication of Mosquitoes.)

Voted (unanimously) : That the Town do not make an appropriation under Article 48 of the Warrant for the improvement of Town property, an appropriation for such purpose having been made under Article 5 of the Warrant.


Article 49 taken up. (Overdrafts.)


On the substitute motion of William O. Hauser it was


Voted (unanimously) : That the sum of two hun- dred sixty-two and 67/100 ($262.67) dollars be and here- by is appropriated to pay debts, obligations and/or ex- penses incurred prior to January 1, 1932 in connection with the construction of, and/or specific repairs upon Massachusetts Avenue under the vote passed April 8, 1931, under Article 64 of the Warrant for the annual meeting of 1931, in excess of the appropriation made for such purpose; and that said sum be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works.


Voted (unanimously) : That the sum of six hun- dred eighty-seven and 07/100 ($687.07) dollars be and hereby is appropriated to pay debts, obligations and/or expenses incurred prior to January 1, 1932 in connection with the widening of the roadway of Massachusetts Avenue, between Pleasant Street and Whittemore Street, under the vote passed November 4, 1931, under Article 10 of the Warrant for the meeting of that date, in excess

On motion of Ernest W. Davis:


Voted: That Article 3 be taken from the table.


M. Ernest Moore, member of the Cemetery Commis- sioners, stating that a full and final accounting having been given by Mr. Warren A. Peirce of the Cemetery Chapel at a former meeting, asked that the report of the Commissioners be received and the Commissioners acting as the Construction Committee be discharged.


Town Counsel Paul M. White stated that since their report had been accepted the matter was taken care of.


The Moderator declared that all business calling the meeting having been disposed of the meeting stood ad- journed at 10:05 P. M.

Middlesex County :


By virtue of this Warrant I have notified and warned the legal voters of the Town of Arlington to meet at the time and places and for the purposes herein named by causing a printed attested copy of the same to be left at every dwelling house in the Town, and by posting an at- tested copy at the doors of the Town Hall seven days at least before said day of meeting and by posting attested copies in two or more conspicuous places in each voting precinct in the Town. A notice of the time, places and objects of the meeting was published in the local papers.

In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the legal voters of the Town of Arlington to meet at the polling places designated for the several precincts, on Tuesday, the 14th day of June, 1932, at seven o'clock in the fore- noon to vote by ballot upon the question of accepting chapter 179 of the Acts of 1932, being an act passed by the General Court in the year nineteen hundred and

thirty-two, entitled "An Act authorizing the Selectmen of the Town of Arlington to act as a Board of Public Works exercising the Powers of Surveyors of Highways, Road Commissioners, Water Commissioners and Sewer Commissioners and providing for the Appointment of Certain Other Town Boards and Officers."


For this purpose the polls will be opened at seven o'clock A. M., and remain open until eight o'clock P. M. at each of the polling places designated, viz:


Precinct 1, in the Crosby School Building, entrance on Winter Street.


Precinct 2, in the Hardy School Building, entrance on Lake Street.


Precinct 3, in the Junior High School East Building, entrance on Tufts Street.


Precinct 4, in the Calvary M. E. Church at the cor- ner of Mass. Avenue and Linwood Street, en- trance on Massachusetts Avenue.


Precinct 5, in the store No. 79A Broadway, entrance on Broadway.


Precinct 6, in the Robbins Memorial Town Hall, en- trance on Massachusetts Avenue.


Precinct 7, in the St. Agnes Parochial School, en- trance on Compton Street.

Hereof, fail not, and make due return of this War- rant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, on or before said day and hour meeting.

Arlington, Mass., June 11, 1932.


Middlesex County :


By virtue of this Warrant I have notified and warned the legal voters of the Town of Arlington to meet at the time and places and for the purposes herein named by causing a printed attested copy of the same to be left at every dwelling house in the Town, and by posting an attested copy at the doors of the Town Hall seven days at least before said day of meeting and by posting attested copies in two or more conspicuous places in each voting precinct in the Town. A notice of the time, places and objects of the meeting was published in the local papers.
