ART. 26-To see whether the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum not to exceed $45,000 for the purpose of extending and im- proving the water system of the Town by laying and relaying water mains of not less than six inches but less than sixteen inches in diameter, by the development of an additional well field, including wells, pipes and original pumping station equipment, and by the construction of small buildings for pumping stations, and to de- termine how any such sum shall be raised, whether by taxation, by transfer of available funds, by borrowing or otherwise, and if by borrowing to authorize the issuance of bonds and notes of the Town, and to authorize the Water Commissioners to do such work and expend such money, or take any action in relation thereto.

ART. 28-To see if the Town will vote to expend the sum of $5,600 from the Installation Account, for the purpose of installing ap- proximately 1,600 ft. of six inch water pipe in Trull Brook Lane, provided that cost of said water installation has been first deposited with the Town Treasurer and applied to estimated re- ceipts and to authorize the Water Commissioners to do such work and expend such money, or take any action in relation thereto.

ART. 29-To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Water Commissioners to acquire by purchase or take by eminent domain in fee simple the two following tracts of land listed as Parcel 1 and Parcel 2 for a water reservoir and for additional space for an over flow from the present reservoir and the proposed new reservoir and for any purposes incidental thereto, in accord- ance with Chapter 40 Section 14 and Chapter 79 of the General Laws as amended and the Acts of 1951 Chapter 61, said two parcels of land being bounded and described as follows:


Beginning at a point at the easterly corner of the granted premises and at the southeasterly corner of the present reservoir land; thence running southerly 210 ft. more or less by land of the Alton Proper- ties, Inc., to a point at other land of said Alton Properties, Inc .: thence turning and running westerly and southwesterly 475 feet more or less by a proposed 50 foot strip of land belonging to said Alton Properties, Inc., to the Tewksbury water easement; thence turning and running northerly and north easterly 200 feet and 142.76 feet by said water easement to the southwesterly corner of the present reservoir land; thence turning and running easterly by said present reservoir land; 279.64 feet to the point of beginning; containing by estimation 104,239 square feet of land more or less, said land belonging to the Alton Properties, Inc., a corporation organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and having a usual place of business in Reading, Massachusetts.


And to see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of

one dollar for such taking or purchase or take any other action in relation thereto.

ART. 30-To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds a sum of money for surveying, ap- praisals, engineering, and legal costs in connection with the pre- paration and construction of the new proposed reservoir and any duties necessary or proper in connection with the same or take any action in relation thereto.


Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $600 under this article - 192 in favor and 56 opposed.


ART. 31-To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of excavating, constructing and building a new buried-concrete water reservoir adjacent to the present Water Department reservoir located on Ames Hill so called, and for originally equipping and completing such reservoir, determine whether the money shall be provided for by appropriation from available funds in the treasury including the Post-War Rehabilita- tion Fund and/or the Sale of Real Estate Fund, by taxation, or by borrowing under the authority of Chapter 44 of the General Laws as amended, or take any action in relation thereto.

ART. 32-To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $975 or any other sum, for the purpose of installing a public water main in Pomfret Road for a distance of approximately 300 feet, and to authorize the Water Department to do such work and expend such money, or take any other action relative thereto.

ART. 46-This Board voted unanimously to recommend the adoption of the following proposed amendment to the zoning by-laws.


To see if the Town will vote to amend the Zoning By-Laws by striking out paragraph G of Section 13 and substituting the follow- ing:


Section 13, paragraph G: No corporation, person or persons, owners, lessees, or other person in control of a trailer, trailer coach, mobile home, or other closed vehicle furnished for housekeeping and designed to be pulled behind another vehicle shall cause the same to be placed upon any premises in any district within the Town except within a duly authorized Trailer Coach Park without prior approval of the Board of Appeals acting in accordance with Section 17 of the Zoning By-Laws and Chapter 40A, Section 15, and other lawful authority.


The Board of Appeals shall not act upon any application for a permit unless the Board of Health has submitted their approval of the proposed location to the Board of Appeals in writing.
