To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the current financial year and to issue a note or notes therefor payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year, in accordance with Section 17 of Chapter 44 of the General Laws; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the Planning Board; or act in re- lation thereto.

ARTICLE 6. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Fifteen Hundred ($1500.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the athletic program in the Westford Schools; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, or transfer from unappropriated available funds in the Treasury, a sum of money for Chapter 81 Highways; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 8. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, or transfer from unappropriated available funds in the Treasury, a sum of money for Chapter 90 Highway Maintenance; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 9. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, or transfer from available funds, the sum of Fifteen Hundred Twenty- Two ($1522.00) Dollars, or some other sum, to the Highway Machinery Fund, and to transfer a certain sum of money from said Machinery Fund to the Highway Equipment Account; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 10. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate, or transfer from available funds, the sum of Seven Thousand ($7,000.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of continuing the reconstruction of Graniteville and Beaver Brook Roads, contingent upon the State and County contributing towards the cost of said reconstruction; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 11. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Six Hundred Fifty ($650.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of purchasing two portable generators, lights and wire for use by the Fire Department, said sum to be expended under the super- vision of the Board of Fire Engineers; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 12. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of purchasing a radio and installing the same on one of the fire trucks, said purchase to be made under the supervision of the Board of Fire Engineers; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 13. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate a sufficient sum of money for the purpose of purchasing new fire hose, said purchase to be made under the supervision of the Board of Fire En- gineers; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 14. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Six Hundred ($600.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of renting quarters at Nabnasset in which one of the fire trucks may be stationed, and that the Board of Fire Engineers be and they hereby are authorized in the name and behalf of said Town to rent such quarters on such terms and conditions as said Board of Fire Engineers

shall deem to be for the best interests of the Town; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 15. In the event of affirmative action under the pre- ceding Article, to see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars for the purpose of making alter- ations and improvements to the quarters at Nabnasset, said sum to be expended under the supervision of the Board of Fire Engineers; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 16. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars, or some other sum, to be expended under the supervision of the Board of Fire Engineers, for the purpose of remodeling the Chevrolet fire truck now stationed at Westford Center, said remodelling to comply with Underwriters specifications, and this fire truck, when so remodelled, together with such equipment as may be placed thereon by the Board of Fire Engineers, to be stationed at Nabnasset; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 17. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of defraying the cost of wiring the siren at Nabnasset into the present fire alarm system, said sum to be expended under the super- vision of the Board of Fire Engineers; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 18. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Fifteen Hundred ($1500.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of purchasing ladders, helmets, coats, nozzles, boots and gas masks for use by the Fire Department, said purchase to be made under the supervision of the Board of Fire Engineers; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 19. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Seven Hundred ($700.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of hot topping the driveway at the Westford Fire Station, said sum to be expended under the supervision of the Board of Fire Engineers; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 20. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Two Hundred Fifty ($250.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of purchasing new road signs and traffic lights, said sum to be expended under the supervision of the Board of Selectmen; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 21. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Five Hundred Fifty ($550.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of painting traffic lines and signals on the public ways in said Town, said sum of be expended under the supervision of the Board of Selectmen; or act in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 22. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Twelve Thousand Five Hundred ($12,500.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of purchasing one tractor shovel for use by the Highway Department, said purchase to be made under the super- vision of the Board of Selectmen; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 23. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) to promote the work of the West- ford 4-H Clubs, this amount to be expended with the approval of the Town Director; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 24. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Seven Hundred ($700.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for Band Concerts during the current year; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 25. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of Fifteen Hundred ($1500.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of constructing new public sidewalks and for the purpose of repairing and maintaining existing public sidewalks, said sum to be expended under the supervision of the Board of Selectmen; or act in re- lation thereto.


ARTICLE 26. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of Nine Hundred Seventy ($970.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the care of the Whitney Playground; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 27. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of Four Hundred ($400.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of taking the State Census, said sum to be expended under the supervision of the Registrars of Voters; or or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 28. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of Twenty-Seven Hundred Sixteen and 66/100 ($2716.66) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of paying to the Treasurer of Middlesex County Retirement System the amounts allocated to the Town of Westford by the County Commissioners in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 32 of the General Laws, as amended; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 29. To see if the Town will vote to accept a gift made to it during the year 1954 by the Solomon Hyams Fund, Inc .; or act in re- lation thereto.


ARTICLE 30. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of Three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of defraying the salary of the dog officer; or act in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 31. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of improving the lighting in the elementary schools, said sum to be expended under the supervision of the School Committee; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 32. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate a sufficient sum of money for the purpose of purchasing two type- writers, one for use by the Town Treasurer and one for use by the Board of Assessors, said purchase to be made under the supervision of the Board of Selectmen; and that the Board of Selectmen be authorized to transfer by good and sufficient Bill of Sale title to the two old typewriters now in use by the Treasurer and Assessors and apply the sum received therefor against the purchase price of the two new typewriters; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 33. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate a sufficient sum of money for the purpose of purchasing a 1955 Ford V-8 Mainline Tudor Sedan for use by the Board of Health, said purchase to be made under the supervision of the Board of Health, and that said Board of Health be authorized to transfer by a good and sufficient Bill of Sale title to the automobile now being used by said Board of Health and apply the sum received therefor against the purchase price of the new automobile; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 34. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate a sufficient sum of money for the purpose of purchasing a new auto- mobile for use by the Police Department, said purchase to be made under the supervision of the Board of Selectmen; and that the Board of Select- men be authorized to transfer by good and sufficient Bill of Sale title to the automobile now being used by the Police Department and apply the sum received therefor against the purchase price of the new automobile; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 35. To see if the Town will authorize the Board of Se- lectmen to arrange for a Forester from the Department of Natural Re- sources to inspect the Town forests and make recommendations regard- ing the sale of merchantable timber therefrom; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 36. In the event of affirmative action under the fore- going Article and in the event said Forester from the Department of Natural Resources recommends the sale of mercantile timber from the Town Forests, to see if the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to sell timber from said Town forests in accordance with the recom- mendations of said Forester; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 37. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Nine Hundred ($900.00) Dollars, or some other sum, for the purpose of providing suitable quarters for the Nabnasset American Le-

gion Post No. 437 and the Auxiliary of said Post, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6539 and the Auxiliary of said Post, and the Frederick S. Healy American Legion Post No. 159 and the Auxiliary of said Post; or act in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 38. To see if the Town will vote that a committee of six voters be appointed by the Selectmen, one of said committee to be a mem- ber of the School Committee, to determine the type and cost of an addi- tion needed at the Nabnasset School, and report its findings and recom- mendations to the Town at a special meeting to be called for that pur- pose, and that the sum of Four Hundred ($400.00) Dollars be raised and appropriated to defray the expenses of said committee; or act in relation thereto.
