Your Board of Assessors wish to report that the equalization pro- gram started in 1951 will not be put into effect in 1953 as had been anticipated, as there are some minor details to be ironed out before the new valuations can be used. It is the plan of the Assessors to notify each property owner of the new value and to hold hearings on the same. This we feel will take care of any adjustments in values before entering the new assessments in our valuation book.

Auditor's Report

This is to certify that during the year 1952, I have examined the vital financial records of the Town of Wilbraham on eighteen different occasions.

I found the books of the Town Treasurer and Town Collector have been kept accurately and up to date. Warrants authorizing expendi- tures have been supported by signed vouchers.

Tax bills were sent out as committed by the Warrants from the Assessors. Tax receipts and other income have been properly trans- ferred to the Treasurer.

The Treasurer's checking account has been reconciled with the bank statements each month and total cash on hand verified with that shown on the books.

61 Extinguishers Recharged

The Fire Department suffered a great loss in the sudden and un- timely death of George E. Murphy. Sadly missed by the Fire Depart- ment.

I feel I speak for the complete staff of the Fire Department when I express the pride we feel in the modern, beautiful, new station. We would like the citizens of Wilbraham to feel free to visit this building often and really see what they have.

A long ambition of the Fireman's Relief Association was fully realized this year through the purchase of an Emergency Vehicle, presented to the Town by the Wilbraham Grange. The Vehicle is fully equipped to handle all emergencies. We are indeed grateful to the committee who worked so diligently to make this possible.

For their cooperation and assistance I express my heartfelt grati- tude to the Fire Dispatchers, the call men, to the members of the Board of Selectmen, Fire Commissioners, the personnel of the various Town Departments, Chief Rene Dubois and Staff of the Ludlow Fire Department, and others who may have helped during the past year.

RALPH E. TUPPER, SR., Fire Chief

New Wilbraham Fire Station

At the town meeting held March 15, 1952 an appropriation of $30,000 was voted for the construction of a new and larger fire sta- tion at North Wilbraham, to replace the station built in 1919. Imme- diately thereafter, your Board of Selectmen and Board of Fire Com- missioners engaged the services of Mr. Wallace E. Dibble, architect, to prepare plans and specifications for a building to meet present needs, also provide for future expansion.
