you LIKE to wear clothes that are becoming to you ; and we like to see you get such clothes. Hart Schaff- ner & Marx make the kind of clothes you ought to wear and we sell them. The fabrics are all wool; in style, tailor- ing and fit they're all. right. It's just as im- portant to us to see that you get the clothes you ought to have, as it is to you. We can't afford to make any mistakes in your suit or overcoat ; we want you satisfied. We know these clothes will do it.

Respectfully submitted,

CHAS. H. BERRY, JR., Treasurer,

Report of the

Superintendent of Schools

TO THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE OF HARTFORD:

The following annual report of the public schools of Hartford is respectfully submitted for your consideration. We have completed a school year of thirty weeks and I am pleased with the work of both pupils and teachers.

New language books have been introduced and the pupils are now doing better work in that study. A few more copies of the new book should be purchased in the spring. We are in need of new geogra- phies and histories next year. The present geographies were pur- chased years ago and are now incorrect.

Three of the school buildings should be painted in the spring and one new stove is needed. About one hundred dollars and the un- expended balance from this year will be needed for repairs next year.

Two of the small schools should be closed and the children con- veyed to larger schools. Usually there is not the interest shown by pupils in the small class that they will show when placed in a larger class.

In closing I wish to thank the members of the board for their help and kindness. I also wish to thank the pupils, teachers and citizens for the interest they have shown in the schools.

Respectfully submitted,

ISAAC A. SMITH, Superintendent.
