JOHNSON


1. CYRUS JOHNSON came here from Atkinson in 1825. He was the first to clear the Yelland place and we think he built the house, which stood there for so many years. He m. Hepsibah He, his wife and six children all belonged to the Congregational Church. He and his wife were among those who met and organized that church. He sold out to Peter Coburn in 1834, and moved to Jackson. Children :

Samuel lived for several years with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ami Bruce, at Bruce Corner. On May 1, 1899, he married Daisy, dau. of Amasa R. and Sarah Libby of Lincoln. On May 1, 1949, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H. Kneeland celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary, with open house, afternoon and evening. This house, on Main Street, has been their home for 50 years.

He was wounded twice. He was in the Battle of the Bulge. He has recently bought the Leadbetter Farm on the Enfield road and has had a successful year.
