PHINNEY
1. WILLIAM PHINNEY, b. 30 June, 1814, in Waquoit, (walk-white) Cape Cod, Mass. He came to Maine when a young man; m. Abigail Eaton of Belfast, Me. They lived in Howland, Me., where their four children were born, and came to Lincoln in about the year 1865, and bought the property then called "Crane's Mill"; later they moved to the Phinney Farm at the top of the hill. Mrs. Phinney d. in 1879 at the age of 55; Mr. Phinney d. in 1904, at the age of 89 years and eight months. He spent the last years of his life with his son, Earl, who lived on the Andrew Edwards place.

1. ANDREW JACKSON STANHOPE, m. Carrie They lived down by Plumly's Mill for many years, and he operated the mill for D. S. Plumly. They moved from there to Hartland, where they both died, and are buried.

4. 3-Melvin Hayes Stanhope, b. 13 Apr., 1877; d. suddenly at his home in Warren, 10 Aug., 1938, after a long ill- ness. He m. 1st, Carolyn Russell of Hartland, deceased; one child, Weston Hayes Stanhope, now lives in Port- land. Since his 2nd marriage, the family have lived in Warren, where his wife now lives. Mellie Stanhope was a member of the Trans Alpine baseball team, and was very popular with the boys.
