The schools have been in session thirty weeks, The attendance of the pupils according to the last "Annual State Report" was ninety per cent. of the enrollment. The town received state aid to the amount of $90,00.
In a recent letter from the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, he stated, that in order to obtain state aid it will be necessary for the town to raise $700.00 in addition to the $622.50 which is required by law.
During the summer vacation, the school house at Mill Brook was repaired, the room was papered, new shades were purchased for the windows, also many other repairs which were needed to make the building comfortable.
The Board would suggest that suitable books from the Public Library be loaned to the schools, where the build- ings are a long distance from the library. The books could . be transferred from one school to another. In this way it would be helpful to the teachers, and children would derive great benefit.
Respectfully submitted,
I. F. HAZELTINE, ~ AFFIE R. MERRILL, School Board. GEORGE RIPLEY,
