36 RICHARDSON MEMORIAL LIBRARY
SUGAR HILL, N. H.
1
TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES:
Ladies and Gentlemen : The library contains 4,878 vol- umes, not including government reports and bound magazines. This year 299 books have been added, all by gifts, as follows : State of New Hampshire, 14; Rev. E. A. Tuck, 7 ; Miss Dorothy Cornell, 8; Dr. Leo Greene, 10; Mrs. E. E. Tipple, 8; Mrs. Bruker, 3; Mrs. Richardson, 18; A Friend, 1 ; Alice M. Wheeler Estate, 207.
The list of periodicals including the gifts is as follows : A. L. A., Booklist, Library Journal, American Journal, The Ladies' Home Journal, Woman's Home Companion, Illustra- ted World, Cosmopolitan, Modern Priscilla, Pictorial Review, Granite Monthly, Scribner's, Christian Herald.
The circulation for the past year was :
Books and periodicals loaned, 6,108 Number of fiction loaned, 2,543 Number of non-fiction loaned, 490 Number of periodicals loaned, 3,075 Attendance, 2,674 Fines and dues, $7.16
The ever-decreasing population shows plainly in the attend- ance and circulation the past year. The interior of the build- ing has been decorated. Five framed prints of Venice and one of Melrose Abbey have added much to the building.
By the will of the late Alice M. Wheeler the library received her entire collection of books, part of which, 207, have been received. Many of them are in sets and in beautiful bind- . ings.
37
It is with regret that I have to report that Mrs. Richardson, donor of the library, has given up her home on ·Sugar Hill, but her interest in the library is as keen as ever, as shown by her generous help in redecorating and the Christmas books received.
To the board of trustees I extend my thanks for their hearty co-operation. Miss Julia E. Palmer has been my assistant the past year and has proved most satisfactory.
Respectfully submitted,
JERUSHA ELIZABETH PARKER, Librarian.
