Report of the Librarian to the Trustees of the LISBON PUBLIC LIBRARY
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN :
The change in the charging system gives each borrower from the library the privilege of taking several books instead of one fiction and one non-fiction book as allowed by the cards. Hence, as will be seen by the circulation, more books than ever have been borrowed. The very general use of the' library by the teachers and pupils of the public school has been gratifying. Generous use, also, has been made of the State library books by the D. A. R. members.
27
The library contains 5,372 volumes, 100 "dead" books hav- ing been removed. One hundred and forty-nine have been added, 60 are being rebound, and two have been replaced.
The registration is 72.
Donors to the library are : Mrs. Oliver, 2 books; Mrs. Hoskins, 1 book; Mr. Wack, 1 book; South Manchurian R. R., 1 book; Mrs. Payne, Mrs. Brigham, Mr. Hadley, maga- zines.
The list of periodicals, including the gifts, for the reading room and for circulation, is as follows :
A. L. A. Booklist, American Magazine, Arts and Decora- tion, Atlantic, Bookman, Century, Current Opinion, Dearborn Independent, Granite Monthly, Independent, Illustrated Re- view, Ladies' Home Journal, Library Bulletin, National Geo- graphic, Our Dumb Animals, Outlook, Popular Mechanics, Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature, Review of Reviews, St. Nicholas, Woman's Home Companion, World's Crisis, Zion's Herald.
The circulation for the past year was:
Books and periodicals loaned, 12,020
Volumes fiction loaned, 9,449 Volumes biography loaned, 313 Volumes history loaned, 151 Volumes geography loaned, 137 Volumes poetry and drama loaned, 139 Volumes literature loaned, 114 Volumes other classes loaned, 293 Volumes periodicals loaned, 1,241 Bound volumes loaned, 183
Of the total number of books issued 2,586 were juvenile.
Respectfully submitted,
NETTIE LOUISE KELSEA, Librarian. Feb. 15, 1923.

Miss Emily Burr has presented us with nine framed prints of American and English poets. Mrs. Charles A. Rich has presented us with several books to be used as replace- ments.
To the change in library rules in regard to books is largely due the increase in circulation and attendance.
To those who have in any way contributed to the Li- brary I wish to express my gratitude.
