Report of Police Court Justice.


To the Selectmen of the Town of Lancaster-Gentlemen:


The first fiscal year of my office as justice of the police court having reached its termination I beg leave to submit the following report :


I have received since my appointment in May last in fines and costs in criminal cases the sum of one hundred and ninety-two dollars and thirty-one cents, $192 31

The salary voted by the town is $300 per annum, so you will readily see that should I exact my full salary the town would be in arrears. But I propose to remit that por- tion of the salary unpaid by the receipts, and in future, should the receipts from the office be less than $300 the deficit shall be remitted by me, and should the receipts from the office exceed $300, the balance shall be paid into the town treasury.

State of New Hampshire.


To the inhabitants of the town of Lancaster qualified to vote in town affairs:


You are hereby notified to meet at the Town Hall in said town on the second Tuesday of March next, at nine o'clock in the forenoon, to act upon the following subjects :


1. To choose a town clerk for the ensuing year.


2. To choose three selectmen, treasurer, and other necessary officers for the ensuing year.


3. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise for the following purposes :


First. To meet current expenses of the town and apply on the principal and interest of the town debt.


Second. For building and repairing highways and bridges.


Third. For building and repairing sidewalks.


Fourth. For breaking rock and building macadam roads and streets.


Fifth. For lighting streets.


Sixth. For observance of Memorial day.


Seventh. For school books and supplies.


Eighth. For support of reading rooms.


Ninth. To see what action the town will take relative to extending the existing sewer system and raise money there- for.


4. To direct how the sums raised for any of the above purposes shall be expended.


5. To direct how the school money shall be divided.


6. To see if the town will approve of a proposed agree- ment between the selectmen of the town of Lancaster and Guildhall in regard to damage and liabilities on the Connec- ticut River bridge.

7. To see if the town will vote to exempt from taxation for a term of ten years any manufacturing establishment pro- posed to be erected, or which may be erected, or put in op- eration therein, together with the capital to be used in con- structing and operating the same : and to pass any vote relat- ing thereto.


8. To see what action the town will take toward provid- ing, establishing and maintaining, or aiding in erecting, es- tablishing, maintaining and operating a shoe factory, or other manufacturing establishment, in said town: and to pass all necessary votes relating thereto.


To raise and appropriate all sums of money necessary to carry into effect any vote passed pursuant to any of the ar- ticles embraced in this warrant.


9 To see if the town will vote to exempt from taxes for a term of years any improvements that may be made upon the Israel's River-said improvements to be dams, water wheels, machinery and buildings for the development of power to be used in manufacturing, heating or lighting within the limits of the town.


10. To see if the town will vote to instruct the selectmen to appoint a special police officer for night service in Lancas- ter village for the ensuing year.


11. To hear the report of the police court and see what action the town will take thereon.


12. To see what action the town will take in regard to printing the Town History, and to pass any vote relating to the money raised in 1897 for the same.
