MACADAM ROAD.
Macadam road on Main street $1,257 97
The above is the cost of macadam road from corner Bun- ker Hill avenue to Boston & Maine railroad crossing, which is about fifteen hundred feet, and an average width of forty feet, and contains about seven thousand square yards, at a cost of 18 cents a yard. We have also moved the crusher and put up new buildings covering all the machinery at a cost of about $500. We have also made a contract with Baker & Hartley to furnish the town rock for five years at 85 cents a cubic yard delivered on the road. The contract has four more years to run, and we are of the opinion, that while the plant is in first-class repair it will be wise for the town to ap- propriate a liberal sum each year during the continuance of the contract to extend our macadam roads.
