REPORT OF SCHOOL BOARD.

Number of scholars by enumeration September, 1909, was 83, between ages of five and sixteen ; girls 48, boys 35.

The number of scholars enrolled by register, 90

Number under six years of age, 4

Number between six and sixteen, 85

Number over sixteen, 1

Grammar school:

Average membership for year, 24.55; average daily at- tendance, 23.14; per cent attendance, 90.498.

Primary school :

Average membership, 22.41; average daily attendance, 24.81; per cent attendance, 90.247.

West school :

Average membership, 11.24; average daily attendance, 8.94; per cent attendance, 79.54.

Three schools have been maintained with three terms each. Miss Rita Briggs taught in the grammar school throughout the year. She came to us as a stranger, but with good recommends from where she had taught, and proved a successful teacher.

Miss Lila Mason in primary school has done her usual good work.

In West school Miss Ruth Wiswall taught spring term, Miss Bessie Porter fall term and Miss Mazie Thompson winter term. We were sorry to make so many changes in this school, but Miss Wiswall wished to attend Normal school, and Miss Porter, business college. All three teachers gave good satisfaction.

The fall term of the village schools was closed on ac- count of scarlet fever, and winter two terms of all the schools have been broken somewhat by chicken pox, so we have not had as many weeks of schooling during the year as we intended to have had.

We have introduced new geographies the past year, ex- changing our old worn out geographies toward later edi- tions.
