PUBLISHER'S NOTICES.

The Dunkirk Journal, an excel- !uit family newspaper, contains 36 col- unns, weekly, made up of local and gene- ral news, choice miscellany, editorials and essays on agriculture, advertise- mints &c. It is well gotten up and well patronized. As an advertising medium it is one of the best, and in this connec- tion we would say that patrons of news- papers cannot give the advertisements too close attention. From them you will frequently learn just where to buy what you have perhaps vainly sought after; sometimes you may save the price of a years' subscription to the paper by heed- ₼ng the advice of an advertisement. Men who advertise are, generally speaking, more liberal in their dealings than those who do not. Having something you want, they believe it to be their duty to inform you of the fact. You should feel obliged for the information. See card on page 176.

I. A. Barmore, manufacturer and dealer in Cabinet Furniture, 75 Main St., Fredonia, N. Y., publishes a card on col- pred page 417. From & personal inspec- tion of this stock, we can most cheerfully recommend him to all persons desirous of purchasing Parlor or Chamber Suits, Dining or Library Furniture. His ware- rooms occupy six floors, 25x100 feet, in which is displayed the finest and most varied assortment of any to be found in the county. His large experience in fur- nishing Residences. Hotels, R. R. Offices and Depots. give him a trade at home and abroad, that others may well be envious of his well-earned reputation. Call and examine his stock and priees, and satisfy yourselves of the fact that it is your in- terest to buy of him.

W. H. Bigelow, of Dunkirk, manu- factures Cider Vinegar, "pure juice of the apple, " and refined Cider. Farmers can also procure at his mills the best quality known of Land Plaster, an article that every farmer should cover his grass with. Some grain crops are benefited as well by the judicious use of gypsum, and the writer once raised at the rato of 800) bushels of potatoes to the acre. where a handful of plaster had been scattored over each hill when the potatoes were four or five inches high; the piece aver- aged A bushel to every eight hills. Sow plaster. See card on page 204.

Charles .\. Morley "is & Brick." No, he makes Brick at Silver Creek. His experience of twenty years should cer- tainly give him an advantage over others of less experience. He guarantees satis- faction. Sve card on page 2Is.

R. H. Thompson, Merchant Tai- lor and dealer in Gentlemen's Furnishing Goods, Hats and Caps, at Westfield. pub- lishes an advertisement on page 277. Mr. Thompson has been here many years, and has had twenty-five years experience in Custom Cutting. He constantly keeps a largestock of goods on hand, selected with great care, and is determined not to be undersold by any dealer in the county. Those who favor him with their patronage will find the goods as represented. If you want a nicely fitting Suit, durably and elegantly made up, give him a call. If you want a good substantial Business Suit, Thompson is just the man who can get them up in good style. He is a fair and honorable dealer, and is bound to suit his customers.

Erie Motel, James Gerrans, proprie- tor, is located at the Depot, Dunkirk, N. Y. This house is large and superbly fitted. The dining rooms are supplied with the rarities of the season. The bil- liard parlors, in connection with the House, afford opportunity for enjoying that healthy game. The Erie Hotel, being in the Depot, is most convenient for travelers. See advertisement on pago 278, and remember the House.

Casafus A. Buch, Carriage, Sign and Ornamental Painter, at Jamestown, is a professional artist, who is prepared to Paint new Signs or retouch old ones in the most superb manner. He can put a coat on a buggy that will shine like pol- ished glass; in fact he will be happy to accommodate his customers in any branch of his business. Will do his work well and at low prices. Card on page 180

DI. Van De Velde, Merchant Tellor, at Dunkirk, is prepared to dress you up in the most fashionable style, and can supply you with Shirts. Cuffs, Collars. Neckties and other goods in the Gents' Furnishing line, at satisfactory prices. See card on next page.

R. B. Curtice, of the Jamestown Nursery and Small Fruit Farm, can sup- ply all varieties of Fruit and Ornamental Trees suited to this climate. He under- stands the management of Trees, and offers only those of good growth and form. Of Shrubs, Vines &c., he has any quantity from which to select. Beautify your homes by securing a judicious as- sortment of Trees, Shrubs and Vines from Mr. Curtice. He advertises on page 180.

Conrad A Hult, dealer In Hats, Caps, Clothing and Furnishing Goods generally, in Weeks Block, Brooklyn, Jamestown, publishes a neat advertise- ment on page 178. Mr. Hult is also agent for the celebrated Victor Sewing Ma- chine, one of the best machines manu- factured.
