INTERCOURSE WITH FOREIGN NATIONS.
The pay Envoys Extraordinary and Ministers Plenipotentiary is $9,000 per annum, as salary, besides $9,000 ontfit. The pay of Charge d'Affaires is $4,500 per annum, with the same amount for outfit, of Secretary of Legation $2,000; of Ministers Resident, $6,000.
The United States are represented by Ministers Plenipotentiary at the courts of Great Britain, France, Russia, Prussia, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Chila, Peru, and Central America; and by Charge d'Affaires at the courts of most of the other foreign powers with which this country is much connected by commer- cial intercourse.
