Lynchburg Business Notices.

FREIBERG & WORKUM.

This firm is known throughout the State as proprietors of one of the most extensive distilleries in the country. The business was commenced here over 18 years ago and has always been the leading industry of the town, and, in fact, employs more men than enterprise of any kind in the county. When running full they employ over fitty hands, and can pro- duce forty-five barrels of bourbon and rye whiskey per day. Mr. Frank Bates is the efficient superintendent.

HENDERSON & HOLMES

Have a good trade in groceries and provisions, glassware, no- tions, etc. ; they also handle goods on commission. Their place of business is on Main street, opposite the depot, and they will be found prompt and reliable in attending to all business which may be entrusted to them. The postoffice occupies part of their store; Mr. J. W. Henderson is postmaster.

NEW YORK STORE.

This extensive establishment is kept by W. R. Gaddis & Son, who are successors to Freiberg & Workum. The store- room is one of the finest in the county, being one hundred and ten feet deep and twenty-five feet wide. It is well filled with general merchandise of all descriptions, suited to the town or country trade. Their advertisement appears in this work.

E. H. HILL, JR.,

On the corner of Main and Pearl streets, has a full and complete stock of pure drugs, patent medicines, chemicals, &c. Also, fancy and staple groceries. An adjoining store-room is devoted to hardware, in which may be found a full line of goods in this line, also pumps and agricultural implements. Those in- tending so purchase will do well to call here.

LYNCHBURG DIRECTORY.

J. W. PEALE & BRO.

This firm is composed of J. W. and S. Peale. Their stock consists of general merchandise, such as groceries, glass, stone- ware, cigars, tobacco, etc, but their leading line is hardware, of which goods they have a full supply that will be sold to farm-

cei ers and others as low as can be had in any house in the county. See their card elsewhere.

J. H. DENISTON,

On Main street, has a fine drug store, which is well supplied with everything in that line, such as medicines, chemicals, perfumery, paints, oils, varnishes, dye stuffs, etc. Customers will find here carefully selected goods and warranted as repre- sented.

D. ELKLIS

Is proprietor of the grocery, confectionery and restaurant, on the corner of Pearl and Main streets. His card may be seen on another page.

FLOYD HOUSE.

This house is in charge of J. Ruse, and is well kept. It is the nearest house to the depot and is convenient to the business part of the town. Travelers will find good accommodations. See his card.

G J. MINZLER

Is proprietor of the Lynchburg Flour Mills. Here is manufac- tured the best quality of flour and corn meal. His principal trade is custom work, and the mills are well and favorably known throughout this part of the county, and have given gen- eral satisfaction to customers. Flour and feed always on hand at the lowest prices. See his card elsewhere.

PROFESSIONAL.

Prominently among the professional men of the county we notice John Torrie, who has practiced law for thirty-two years and whose abilities place him in the foremost rank of the pro- fession. His office is on Main street. Among the medical profession we might mention Dr. Isaac Holmes, whose acknowl- edged skill brings him a large and lucrative practice. His office is on Main street near the depot. Dr. T. D. Achor's office is on Main street, and he is also kept busy attending to patient3.
