New Vienna.

This thriving town was laid out in 1827, by Thomas Hus. sey. It is located in the south eastern part of Green township,. on the Marietta & Cincinnati R. R. Its favorable location makes it the center of trade for a large section of country and. the merchants are generally enterprising and prospersus. There are five churches in the town. The new school building, almost completed, is a magnificent structure for a town of this size and a credit to the community. Population, about 1,200.

BUSINESS NOTICES.

A. B. BEARD.

The store of this gentleman is on the Main street. The. hardware department is well supplied with everything in that. line, and those wishing to buy will find it to their advantage to. call and see the variety of goods here in stock. His stock of groceries and provisions will be found fresh, and sold as low as any other house in the trade. Mr. Beard has been in the mercantile business since 1855. See his card elsewhere.

THE WEEKLY REGISTER.

This is a large, well printed and ably conducted paper, and is a credit to the town. The job printing office is well supplied with facilities for doing everything in that line promptly and. with taste. It is one of the largest in this section of the State.

UNDERWOOD & WRIGHT

Have been here over three years engaged in selling groceries,. confectioneries, etc. The restaurant connected with this house is well patronized, as they keep refreshments of all kinds, such as ice cream, oysters in season, etc. Their card may be seen elsewhere.

GRAVATT & HAGUE,

Whose card may be seen on another page, are located on Main street. Here may be found a large stock of drugs, medicines, and in fact everything usually found in a first-class drug store. Those wishing anything in this line will do well to call here.

JOSEPH K. PARKER

Is engaged in the livery business on Church street, opposite the Methodist church. These stables were formerly known as the Higgins stables. His turnouts, either single or double, are equal to any in the county, and he takes the best care of horses and vehicles, and guarantees satisfaction in all cases. He also has special wagons for commercial travelers. See his card elsewhere.

R, M. WILLIAMS

Has been engaged in the drug business here for over five years. He has a Irrge and complete stock of drugs, paints, oils, per- fumery, medicines, &c. Mr. Williams has by fair and honorable dealing established a large trade in the town and surrounding country.

J. C. SANTEE

T. P. PEALE

Is prominently identified with the business of the town. The building which he occupies is the finest mercantile building in town. It was built in 1876. This building is 93 feet long by 44 wide, containing two store rooms on the fiast floor, 90 feet by 21 clear. It also contains Peale's Hall, which contains stage, scenery and is commodious and well arranged. The building is lighted by gas which is manufactured on the premises.
