store occupied by Mr. Merrick is one hundred and fifty feet deep, and two stories high. The lower story is devoted to the general stock of dry goods, silks, etc., and the upper story to carpets, of which may here be found, a complete stock. Mr. Merrick has been in business here for the past thirty-two years, during which time his trade has steadily increased until now he employs nine hands. Specialties of silks, dry goods, carp- ets, boots, shoes, etc .; and buying, as he does, direct from headquarters, in large quantities, for cash, is thus enabled to sell at prices that are within the reach of all. To all those in need of anything in his line we would say, Call at 17 east Main, if you want good goods at low prices.
DR. LUCIAN SMITH.
The store room and office of this gentleman are at No, 26 south Detroit street, where may be found one of the finest stocks of drugs, patent medicines, perfumery, toilet articles, etc., in the country, and all those wishing pure drugs would do well to call here. Dr. Smith is also a practicing physician and surgeon. His office is in the rear of the drug store. He has been in busi- ness here long enough to become well and favorably known throughout the city and surrounding country. See his card which appears on the cover of this volume.

The Xenia Torchlight is published by the Xenia Torchlight Co. at No. 18 south Detroit street. It has an extensive circula- tion throughout the city and surrounding country.
