Lebanon.

This flourishing town is the county seat of Warren county, and is much the largest and most important town in the county. The location of the town is beautiful and healthful, and there are numerous elegant and substantial private residen- ces and public buildings. The new town Hall deserves special mention ; it has only recently been completed, and is a large brick structure, architecturally faultless, and well fitted to the purposes for which it is intended. It has a population of about 4,500.
BUSINESS, NOTICES.
J. W. LINGO,
At 99 ·west Mulberry street, is the most extensive hardware and agricultural implement dealer in the county. He came here in 1863, and for a while wrought as a clerk in a hardware store, thus gaining a knowledge of all the details of the trade. In a short time, however, he entered the business on his own account ; here in addition to valuable experience, he brought sound judgment, energy and enterprise, which soon placed him in the front rank of Warren county merchants. Here may be found, in addition to a full stock of general hardware, agricul- tural implements of all kind -. It has always been his aim to keep the best goods in the market, considering them the cheap- est in the end. His large warehouse, in rear of the store, is ninety by sixty feet, and two stories high; he has, also, another warehouse on Mechanic street which is devoted to buggies and spring wagons, in which he has a large trade. The front business house is a three-story brick, seventy feet deep. The upper story is occupied by his tinners, where is manufactured all goods needed in that line. The second story

is filled with stoves, etc., of all patterns, and the lower roorg st contains the stock of general hardware, etc. Another larepe branch of his business is that of pumps, which he puts up 1,40 through this part of the State. He also deals largely in sewing machines, having sold as high as one hundred and fifty in o per year. As an indication of the amount of business done her tho we might mention that he sells about two hundred cultivatoillt one hundred reapers, and sixty farm wagons per year, anatt all other implements, such as plows, drills, etc., in proportion, employing from twelve to fifteen men in his business, and allthe giving his personal attention to the same. A. B. CAREY.
At 68 Broadway takes a prominent place among the bo and shoe manufacturers of the county, he also deals in hal caps and ready made clothing, gents' furnishing goods & The celebrated "saddle seam" boot manufactured here giv univeral satisfaction and is warranted not to rip. LEBANON NATIONAL BANK.
Is on the southeast corner of Broadway and Mulber streets. J. Mont Hayner is President and J. M. Oglesb wa Cashier. WARREN COUNTY CHEAP STORE.
This well known store is located on Broadway, and always well supplied with everything suitable for the town, country trade ; here may be found all kinds of notions, fan goods, ladies' and gents' furnishing goods, wall paper, windo shades, boot and shoes, &c., entending purchasing will do we to visit this establishment. The prescription department is in the hands of an berienced clerk, who thourghly understands the business, and those wishing pure drugs, carefully compounded will do a to rtil l to call. Asan historical item we call attention to the fact t this is the oldest store in the town having been opened by , Hardy in the year A. D. 1816, the present senior member he firm Mr. W. A. Hardy, was born in the room immedi- ugly over the store and has occupied the same residence all life. And being in business here many years has by fair honorable dealing succeeded in establishing a good trade the city and surrounding country. See card on the cover of s volume.
ED. M. HALE & CO.
This firm occupies the large and commodious store room at Mulberry street, where they keep a complete stock of olitches, clocks, jewelry, etc. ; in fact everything usually found a first-class establishment of this kind, which they sell at holesale and retail throughout the city and surrounding untry. Special attention is paid to repairing, and all work warranted. All persons in need of anything in their line Il do well to call here, as all goods leaving this house are arranted as represented, and are sold as low as first-class ods can be sold.
EDWARD WARWICK.
The office of this gentlemen is over the Lebanon National ank. By close attention to his business he has succeeded in acing himself upon an equal footing with the prominent at- rneys of the surrounding counties. Any one in need of unsel will do well to employ Mr. Warwick.
JACOB SCHWARTZ.
This gentleman began business here in 1860, under the firm ime of Evans & Co. In 1866 he bought out his partner, and as since conducted business on his own account. . He has the jest stock of marble and granite monuments in this part of le State. He is also agent for tho celebrated " white bronze

monuments." This firm employs from eighteen to twenty hands, and also have a branch of their manufactory located a Morrow. To all those wanting goods in their line, we would say this is the place to buy first-class goods, and we can assure our patrons of fair and honorable treatment at their hands.
THE LEBANON SHOEING SHOP,
O. E. Smith, proprietor, is at No. 62 Mulberry street, where he attends to all work in his line. He pays particular attention to grabbing and diseased feet. All work in his line warranted first class. Give him a call.
ED. WOOD
Is proprietor of the popular resort, at 112 Mulberry street. The billiard hall is large, well lighted and supplied with improved tables, &c., and those who enjoy this game will find these parlors cominodious and comfortable. The bar will be found well stocked with wines, ale, porter, beer and such like refresh- ments. His card will be found elsewhere.
THE LEBANON PATRIOT
Is published every Thursday, at the corner of Mulberry and Broadway, It is a live Democratic paper, and has a good cir- culation throughout the county. The job printing depar ment is well supplied with all necessary material for all kinds of plain and ornamental printing, which will be promptly attended to at reasonable rates.
D. P. EGBERT & SON
Are extensively known throughout this section of the State, and they transact a large buginess as real estate and commer- cial agents, also as money brokers, &c. They are prepared to make collections on all parts of the United States, as they have reliable correspondents in every county. Parties in the vicinity, or from a distance, who wish to know the financial standing of any business man in the county, can obtain such information promptly by writing to them. THE LEBANON HOUSE,
On Broadway, opposite the postoffice, has lately been remodel- ed, so that at present it offers to the traveling public the com- forts of a first-class hotel. It is the only one in town.

The house and sign painter, is located at 75 Mulberry street, where he attends to all work in his line, such as house and sign painting, paper hanging and ceilings whitened. Imitation of wood and marble, and all kinds of ornamental work done in the most artistic style, to order, at short notice.
J. A. RUNYAN.
This gentleman has been practicing law here for the past year, and has, by strict attention to his profession, proved him- self deserving of the confidence and esteem of the community. Parties in the vicinity and from a distance can rely upon having all business entrusted to him promptly and faithfully attended to.
W. E. STOCKTON
Transacts a wholesale and retail business in the line of stoves, tin, copper and sheet-iron ware. He makes a specialty of tin and slate roofing, guttering, spouting, and ali job work of this nature. This is headquarters for the "Economist Oil Cook Stove," which is acknowledged to be the safest, best and cheap- est oil stove in the market. His place of business is at 74 Broadway, and his card may be seen on another page.
W. B. BLACKBURN & SON.
At 82 Broadway are quite largely engaged in the manu- facture of saddles, harness, &c, They also deal in blankets, fancy lap robes, fly nets and all goods in this line. Farmers and others wanting any thing in this line, will do well to call here and see the quality of the goods and learn prices. Mr, T. H. Blackburn of this firm attends to all kinds of dyeing, and is prepared to do all kinds of renovating on short notice and ow rates. This house has been established 40 years.

The watchmaker and jeweler is located at 127 Mulberry street, here may be found a full stock of watches, jewelry spectacles and all goods in this line, he also attends promptly to all kinds of repairing. R. B. CORWIN.
This gentleman is on the corner of Mulberry and Me- chanic streets, where he has a large and complete stock of hardware, stoves, tinware, sewing machines, attachments and repairs. Those wishing'anything in his line will do well to call here and compare prices before buying.
NATHAN WOODS.
The popular resort kept by this gentleman is at 126 and 128 Mulberry street. He has a first-class restaurant where the public can find first-class meals at all hours. The bar is stocked wsth choice wines, ales, beer, etc., and the billiard hall is one of the pleasant places where lovers of the game can spend an hour or two very pleasantly, When you visit Lebanon drop in and see " Nate," as he is popularly called, and you may be sure of being well treated.

The law office of this gentleman is in the Masonic build- on Mulberry street, who has been in business here for many years, and is so widely known that comment from us is un- neccessary.
W. F. GUNTHER.
The merchant tailor, clothier and gents' furnisher is located on Mulberry street near the corner of Broadway where he has a large and complete stock of Ready made clothing, gents' furnishing goods. He also keeps a full stock of cloths, cassi- meres and vestings which he makes to order at short notice and on reasonable terms. Mr Gunther is a practical workman him- self and has already gained an enviable reputation for the neat garments that leave his shop.
THE WESTERN STAR.
Was founded in 1806 by John McClean, who was after- wards postmaster general, and a Justice of the U. S. supreme court. It has been published continuously from the day it was started to the present time, and has grown from an 8x10 sheet to a seven column quarto. It is the official county paper, consequently contains the advertisments and announcements of the county officers, and other matters of a legal character. The circulation of the star is constantly growing, and is a first- class medium for the advertiser. Connected with ihe Star newspaper is the Star steam job rooms which are well prepar- ed to do any thing in that line. First-class work and low prices is the motto. Wm. C. Mcclintock is proprietor.
