WILLIAMS' CINCINNATI DIRECTORY, City Guide and Business Alivrer: IS ISSUED ANNUALLY FROM THE DIRECTORY OFFICE, NO, 194 WALNUT ST., COR. FIFTH.
The Directory has now been published six years, its support having greatly increased from year to year, until for two years past, it has met the expense of publication, and now begins to furnish a small return for the continual labor which necessarily attends the preparation of such a work ; from which it may be fairly inferred that it will, as here- tofore, continue to receive, annually, an additional support, and may now be said to be permanently established, although it has been done at a heavy expense to the publisher.
While an adequate support will enable us from year to year to improve it very materi- ally, we now unhesitatinly invite a comparison with those published in other cities -- it can lose nothing from it, as no city which at this time contains a population of 100,000 or more, is furnished with a Directory as full in proportion or equal in many other important particulars.
As Directories consist almost entirely of Cards of Address and Business-properly termed advertisements-each of which should be paid for as such by those represented, their support should be derived from that source, and this one in particular does rely upon that alone and not upon its sale, and it will be seen that it is not in any case sold, by refe- rence to the following :
TERMS OF PUBLICATION:
THE DIRECTORY IS NOT SOLD .- For the gen- only received when paid in advance.
