MAISH'S PATENT REFRIGERATOR
MANUFACTURED SOLELY BY J. & J. M. JOHNSTON,
AT THEIR STEAM BOX FACTORY, SOUTH SIDE OF THIRD STREET, BETWEEN PLUM AND WESTERN ROW,
CINCINNATI,
For the Improvements which are found in this Refrigerator Over all others now in use. LETTERS PATENT were granted April 20, 1852. In its internal structure, it provides a strong, simple and efficient means of appropriating to cooling purposes the water from slowly melting ice, and also all the condensing moisture of the atmosphere as it accumulates, with. out wetting the parts of the shelves which comes in contact with the arti- cles placed upon them for protection.
One chief advantage is in the shape of the shelves. They are formed of corrugated or crimpeil sheet metal. the upper angles of which support the dishes or other articles above the water which runs in the intervening channels. The ice is contained in a chamber in the top of the Safe. The EN JOHNSTON angular shape of its bottom directs the drip as it falls to one particular CIT THIRDSTR point on the upper shelf, the corrugated channels of which are tillel to a certain point, and then the water passes down a small pipe at the end of the next shelf. which is filled in its channels in hke manner ; it then passes down to the next shelf, and so to the bottom, where it is finally discharged through a small tube, over which there is a cap, while at the same time it lets the water discharge. The angular shape of the bottom of the ice Box allows every drop of water to pass off as It melts, thereby preserving the ice a longer time than most other safes.
Uniforinity of temperature is secured from top to bottom, and should it be desired at any particular time to lower the tem. perature, the forni of the shelves will safely allow icc to be placed on any one of the shelves without injury to the surround- ing articles. Other Safes are made with hollow shelves for the passage of water, but their shelves being Jonhle are much heavier, more costly, difficult to clean, and liable to burst from various causes. This one is light, safe, simple and cheap. They are made of all sizes, to accommodate Families, Hotels and Steamers. They can be made ornamental as furniture for dining rooms, or other positions persons may wish them to occupy. We invite all in want of a good and cheap Ice Safe, to call and examine these carefully, confident that they are nearer perfection in their way than all others now before the public. 03" We are still manufacturing the OLD STYLE of lec Chests, and are prepared to fill orders for all sizes.
LIBERAL DISCOUNT TO THE TRADE.
