FIRE DISTRICTS .-- The City is divided into four Districts. as follows:

ART. 3. The Assistant Engineers shall ex- amine the condition of the different companies in their districts, and see that the Captains of each company have the apparatus entrusted to their care kept in good working order, and that the Ordinances and Regulations of the Fire Department are strictly attended to. . ART. 6. The Lieutenant shall act as Captain in his absence.
ART. 7. The Pipemien shall take due care of the property in use by their respective company, and attend to the hose and pipes at fires ; they. shall report to the Captain as often as he may direct, or they may find it necessary ; one of them shall be on duty at the Engine-house at all times, (to be relieved at such times and man- ner as the Captain may direct,) the third Pipe. man to assist at the work of the other Pipemen, or as he may be directed by the Captain ; he shall take the place of either Pipemen or Drivers, when either of them is absent from duty by some unavoidable cause; he shall at- tend to alarms, and remain at the Engine-house during the absence of the other men at fires.
