Whereas this Vestry has Considered the Great Charges which Mrs. Catherine Squires is like to be at in Repairing the house which was formerly Rented for Mr. Squires. Wee the Vestry of St. Peter's Parish, having this day mett and Do find the Parish Debts amount to Fourty four Thousand Three hundred and Twenty pounds of Tobacco, Which S'd Sum being Divided by 576 Tythables Amount to 76 L per Tithable only a fraction Due to ye Parish next year from ye Collector of 40 L of Tob'co, The Which Sum of Tobacco Mr. Thomas Butts, Church warden, is hereby impowered to receive of every Titha- ble person in St. Peter's Parish and pay the same to those Per- sons which it is Levyed for, And if in case of non payment to make Distress according to Law.

Persuant To an Order of Vestry Baring Date the 4th of this Instant May, appointing all undertakers to appear at a Vestry to be held for St. Peter's Parish on the Wednesday in Whitson week to undertake the Building and finishing of a Gleeb House whose Dementions are as followeth, viz .: Fourty two feet in Length, Twenty feet wide, A Seller Three Feet in the Ground and three feet above, nine feet Pitch from floor to floor, The Hall to be Eighteen feet Long, The Chamber to be fourteen feet in Length, A Chemney at each end five feet Deep, The Stairs to go up in ye Hall by ye Chemney & a Light at ye Gable end & a Clos- sett by the Chemney in ye Chamber. In the Clossett, under the Stairs a way into the Seller and at the other end under ye Clos- sett a way into ye seller out of Doors, two Windows in ye Seller, Two Outward Doors in ye Hall & two Transem Windows, and in

ye Chamber one outward Door & one Transum Window, and a Window in each Clossett. The Wall to be two Brick thick to the Water Table & then a Brick & half, The outward Room above Stairs fourteen feet, The Inward Room Eighteen feet and a Chemney & a Clossett in ye Inward Room above. Two Three light Dorman Windows in each Room above Stairs, And to be Lathed & Plaistered above Stairs & Plaistered below Stairs, A Good Grit Roof Covered with Sawn Larths & Shingled & well Tarred and each floor to be Rabbitted & Good Steeps at each outward Door & a Brick Petition between the two Lower Rooms from ye foundation to ye second floor, And ye Cornish Doors & Window frames & Mantle Pieces & Door frames to be Primed with Lincett oyl & Spanish Brown, hinges, Glass, Locks, Keys & finish all workmanlike, Turn Key and Go. Mr. Thomas Jack- son appeared at this Vestry and Agreed with ye Sd Vestry to Build the above s'd house according to ye s'd Dementions for fourty nine Thousand five hundred pounds of good, sound, sweet scented Tob'co & Cask and Conveniency and to be paid unto ye S'd Tho. Jackson or Order one half of ye s'd 49500 L. of Tob'co C C the next fall, and the other half to be paid in the year 1714. The S'd Gleeb house to be finished according to ye S'd Demen- tions by ye Tenth Day of October in ye year 1714. Mr. Thomas Jackson to Inter into Bond with ye Church wardens with good & Sufficient Security to Perform such Articles as ye s'd Vestry or Church wardens shall think fit to Draw, And ye s'd Tho. Jack- son to gett all ye frame sawn & Brick made & Burnt this fall & to get all Plank & other Timber Sawn by the Tenth day of October next ensuing the Date of the Order.
