BASIN

Basin is the county seat of Big Horn County. Population, 1,200. Eleva- tion, 3,682 feet. Basin is located on the west bank of the Big Horn river and on Hill's main line from the Gulf to the Coast, and on the Yellow Trail, the famous tourist route from Chicago to the Yellowstone National Park. Only 75 miles from the east and main entrance to the National Park. Basin owns and conrols its own electric light plant, waterworks and sewerage system. Basin has an abundance of natural gas for domestic and manufacturing pur- poses. It has an $80,000 court house, one of the most attractive and best equipped federal or post office buildings in the state, costing some $60,000. It also has a $15,000 Carnegie public library. most up-to-date high schools in the Basin country, and a $40,000 grammar school building and one other in building and one other in course of construction.

Basin is the home of the Big Horn County Fair, the largest and most successful county fair of any western state.

Basin is the nearest large town to the geographical center of the Big Horn Basin, a country extending about 150 miles each way. It is the heart of the richest agricultural and stock growing area in the state of Wyoming Basin is rapidly growing as an agricultural metropolis because its sultriness of the middle western and states of the east, it is never really hot- are now being distributed and finding ready market all over the country.

The natural surroundings of Basin could not be better. You see on all sides high mountain ranges, with snow-capped peaks, that keep away the cold of winter and temper the climate of summer. As compared to the sultriness of the middle western and states of the east, it is really hot- Summer resort weather from early spring until late fall is he delight of the citizens of Basin.

It is conceded that Basin is the most beautiful town in the northwest. Basin, nestling in a deep, rich valley, has many natural advantages, but whatever these advantages have done for Basin, its citizens have done more. The location of the town could not be better, ideal, but surroundings or environment do not build a town, build business blocks or fine residences, do not construct streets, nor do they help conduct a city's government. Basin is a town of commanding business blocks, wide, open streets and pretty residences. Basin is one of the cleanest cities in the United States, both morally and physically. Basin takes a pride in the appearance of the town. You see it in its attractive residences and commanding business blocks, in which her citizens make their homes or attend their business or profession. Basin is built on a solid foundation against years to come.

The commanding position which the city of Basin occupies by reason of its location and transportation facilities, gives it a future that is secure. Moral and educational influences, every modern convenience and our delightful climate makes Basin the best residence city in the country. The city has never had a boom, but has always enjoyed a steady and substantial growth which will make it one of the great inland cities of the northwest. The "Garden City" or the "City of Opportunity," as it is called, and it is well merited. Basin's residence streets are embowered in shade and its homes are surrounded by attractive lawns and well kept grounds and gardens. Its educational and social life is liberal and earnest. It is a well governed city and well controlled, for a place of residence or a place of business is course of construction.
