NAMES APPEARING IN BLACK LETTERS

in this Directory represent the ENERGY AND PUSH of the city, and it is a pleasure for the publishers of the Directory to have the op- portunity to make the public acquainted with them through our pages. Those in BLACK LETTERS are the people who ACCOM- PLISH THE WONDERS in business here and make the city what it is. They recognize and support all public necessities and things needful to improve and serve a city. When you PATRONIZE THOSE IN BLACK LETTERS you patronize men and firms who will patro- nize you in the same broad manner in which you patronize them.

Casper Leading Industries

CASPER.

CASPER-THE SQUAREST CITY IN THE SQUAREST COUNTY IN THE SQUAREST STATE IN THE UNION-WYOMING.

Casper is the largest city in Wyoming, and is located in the geographical center of the State. Casper is the industrial center of the Rocky Mountain region, is the second largest wool shipping point in the United States, and the oil fields of Natrona county, of which Casper is the county-seat, supports one of the largest crude oil refineries in the world-the Midwest Refining Company's Plant. The Standard Oil Company refinery ranks as one of the largest and most important in the country. More than five mil- lion dollars will be expended for improvements at these refiner- ies during 1921-22. About three thousand men are employed at these refineries, alone. Casper's payroll is estimated at more than a million a month.

During the first four months of 1921, more than a million dollars worth of business buildings were contracted for and res- idences costing over a half million dollars are now under con- struction. Casper's educational system is the finest .in the West, supporting a corps of 125 teachers, who are paid the highest wages; nine modern school buildings including two high schools. The leading religious denominations are represented by ten church- es, all of which are either housed in modern church homes, or have new buildings under construction.

Ten miles of paved streets, many miles of concrete side- walks, five miles of concrete highway already laid, and thirty miles more contracted for on the Salt Creek Road, a city hall cost- ing $165,000, and a $200,000 Court House, a $100,000 Masonic Temple, and a $75,000 Odd Fellows Building, several modern of- fice buildings ranging from $100.00 to $250,000, tell the tale of the modern city of Casper, while a new $100,000 Elks' Club, a $75,- 000 Y. W. C. A. building. a $150,000 newspaper plant, a $50,000 Moose Home, a new $75.000 theatre, three new bank buildings costing up to $300,000 give an inkling of what the Casper of to- morrow will be. Casper is the most important stop on the Yel- lowstone Highway, a division point on the Chicago & Northwest- ern, and the C., B. & Q. Main Lines.
