It is purely a home institution, confining its business to Iowa alone. As to its standing among Iowa people; we refer to the above. showing, which speaks for itself.
Patronize Home Institutions and Industries is the watchword. Don't send your money out of the State when you can get a policy in one of the best Companies, Home or Foreign, by patronizing the HAWKEYE INSURANCE CO. of Des Moines, Iowa. (OVER)

DES MOINES LIFE ASSOCIATION.
AGENTS WANTED. Address. C. E. RAWSON, President.
DES MOINES, IOWA.
TO INSURANCE AGENTS.
1.
- GENTLEMEN-The Des Moines Life Association, operated on the "Rawson System" of life insurance, is not a high rate company or a low rate company, but an organization whose premiums are based on insurance experience, and are sufficient, but not exorbitant. According to the sworn reports of the old- line companies to the New York Insurance Department for the past thirty years, we are collecting just a little more money to pay death losses with than they do, but not nearly as much for expense and reserve. Thus you will see · that, by basing our mortuary collection on this experience, we are absolutely safe at less than one-half the rates charged by old-line companies. We need not tell you that an agent's value is measured by his ability to collect premi- ums, or that it is much easier to collect a premium of $75 for a $5,000 policy in our company than it is for a $2,000 policy in an old-line company. This is why' agents say that the Des Moines Life Association is a bonanza for them. The insured, for the same premium, gets more than twice the insurance fur- nished by the old-line companies, and insurance that is absolutely safe, and yet the agent's commission is about the same. We write as many Iowa people in a month as any old-line Iowa company write in a year. We are doing business in eight different States, and before the close of 1893 will be in at least twenty States. For three years in succession we have written more Iowa business than any one company, eastern or western ..
We have some good territory for special or general agents, Address.
C. E. RAWSON, PRESIDENT, DES MOINES, IOWA,
SEE NEXT PAGE.
-
READ i
THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY.
ABSOLUTELY SAFE-READ CARE- FULLY.
W E wish to explain why the Des Moines Life Life Association is absolutely safe for all time to come. The money paid In by the people. for insurance is divided into three different funds, .3
Mortuary. Reserve. Expense.
These three items comprise the elements that make up the gross premium charged. The fol- lowing shows the amount charged by old-line companies for pure life insurance, and also the amount charged by us.
Cost of Old-Line Insurance at 4ge 40 for $1,000.
Mortuary Reserve! Expense.
$19 20
8 95-831 21
Cost of Des Moines Life at Age 40 for $1,000.
Mortuary : Reserve.
$ 9.00 40
Expense.
8 00 -- $15 00
You can see from the above that we collect more to pay our death losses than do the old-line or legal reserve companies, but much for reserve and expenses
not nearly as The president of many of the old-line companies draws a salary af 850,000 per annum (the same as the President- . af: the United States), a few of them get $65 000, while our president simply gets phy for the time le puts in, and must be paid from the $3.00 per . $1,000, as well as all the rest of the expenses of the company.
BUSINESS MEN ASK FOR OUR INSURANCE
Several of our Des Moines men, during the past year have either called at our office or asked us to call on them and write their applications for a policy, which has been very gratifying indeed .: None has been more so than a man whose name; is familiar not only to insurance men but to the: njasses of people of the great State of Lowva. ; We: refer to Adam Howell, president of the Hawkeye. Fire Insurance Company of the city. Not long sidee, Mr. Howell said, as we were dining to- gether, "Why don't you call and write meia policy in your company?" at the same time spy- ing that he had heard a great many good things said about the D. M. L. A., and felt that we were worthy of the support of our home people, as we we're building up " Western institution that was a credit to our city and State. We appreciate the conifience thus placed in the D. M. L. A: by a man that stands on the top round of insurance and at the head of a company that needs no in- production to the people of Iowa. | We feel that we have added to our membership a valuable il name, one that will carry weight with it, At the same time we have increased Mr. Howell's estate just $2,000,

We wish to impress it on your mind that the above assets all belong to our policy-holders. No. stockholders to absorb the savings. On the other' hand, at the end of each tenth polley year, this fund is equally divided among poffey-holders who have kept their policies in force for ten full yenrs. giving them their choice either in cash or paid- up insurance.
-
TEN REASONS
WHY The Leading Life Insurance ;Agents prefer to represent this Company, and
WHY us.
The Masses of the People Insure w
FIRST .- Because we write pure Life Insur- ance without any side issues.
SECOND .- Because we pay our death losses promptly and in full.
THIRD .- Because we dlo the leading busi- nese in Iowa, old-line or nej,
FOURTH .- Because we pay our agents a cash commission on the fifteenth of each month. FIFTH .- Because we have no membership fee, making our plan much more desirable.
SIXTH :- Because our payments are fixed, `doing away with post-mortem of pann-the bat assessments.
SEVENTH. - Because we
always have money to pay death losses promptly, and to loan out on Jowa farms.
EIGHTH .- Because in case a policy-holder gets totally disabled he can draw one-half of the benefit while living.
NINTH .- Because we write the Joint Polley on man and wife, or any two relatives, with the full amount payable to the one that lives the longest. The best, as Noah said when he invited them into the ark, "come in pairs;"'
TENTH .- And because our dividend, at the end of ten years, will equally divide the accumu- lations' between every policy holder that has kept his policy paid| up for ten full years. If they have paid one dollar too much it will be returned to them with interest, making the cheapest in- surance obtainable.
