DIRECTIONS FOR GIVING AN ALARM OF FIRE.
Key holders will be particular to observe the following rules:
1. To give an alarm, go to the nearest box, open the door, pull the hook to the bottom of the slot once and let go; then close the door.
.. 2. Do not pull the hook if the fire bells or small bell in the box is striking, as that indicates that an alarm has already been given.

3. Be particular to remain at the box until the arrival of an officer of the fire department, who will release the key, or if circumstances will not permit remaining, then the proper officer will return the key to the holder as soon as convenient.

RATES OF FARE AUTHORIZED BY CITY ORDINANCE RELATIVE TO PUBLIC CARRIAGES, ETC.
Section 13. That the owner or driver of any omnibus, carriage, cab, herdic or other vehicle licensed under this chapter, shall be entitled to demand and receive not ex- ceeding twenty-five cents (35c) for each pas- senger conveyed any distance not exceed- ing one mile.
For each passenger over one mile; and under two miles, fifty cents (50c). For each passenger with trunk, one mile and under, fifty cents (50c). For each passenger with trunk, over one mile and under two miles, seventy-five cents (75c). Each additional passenger of the same party, twenty-five cents (25c). Provided that sixteen blocks shall constitute a mile. And they shall be entitled to add to the above rate when - said service is rendered between the hours . of 12 o'clock at night and 6 o'clock a. m., twenty-five cents (25c) for each passenger. And are entitled to charge, when employed by the hour, one and 50-100 dollars ($1 50). for the first hour, and for each additional . hour, one dollar ($1); and they are hereby required to convey any passenger carried by them to such part of the city as he or she may require.
Children under five years of age accom- panying any person who has paid full fare shall not be charged fare, and children between the ages of five and ten years shall only be charged half fare. Any per- son violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be subject to a fine of, not less than five nor more than one hundred dollars.

First Ward-The first ward shall em- brace all of that portion of the city lying west of a line described as follows, to-wit: Beginning on the south line of the city in the center of section twenty-one, in range twenty-four (24), running thence north through the center of said section twenty- one (21), and through section sixteen (16) and a part of nine (9) to the middle of Raccoon river; thence westward along the channel of said river to a point directly south of the southern terminus of the middle of Nineteenth; thence northito Grand ave; thence east on Grand ave to Seventeenth; thence north on Seventeenth to the north line of section five (5) in town- : ship seventy-eight (78), range twenty-four (24); thence west on the north line of said section to Twentieth; thence north on Twentieth to the Des Moines river; thence along the middle of the said river to the forth line of the city.
Second Ward-The second ward shall . include all of the territory lying east of the first ward, west of a line beginning at a point.in the middle of the Raccoon river
where it is intersected by a north and south line running through the center of section nine (9); thence north through the center of said section nine (9) to Market; thence west on Market to Tenth; thence north on Tenth to Pleasant; thence west on Pleasant to the alley immediately east of lot two (2) in subdivision of lots three (3) and four (4) of Rose's addition; thence north on said alley to Park; thence east on Park to Eleventh; thence north on Eleventh to Jefferson; thence west' on Jefferson to the west line of the plat of Prospect park; thence directly north to the Des Moines river; thence westward along the middle of the said river to the east boundary line of the first ward.

Seventh Ward-The seventh ward shall comprise all| that portion of the city lying east of the east line of the sixth ward as above fixed.
PRECINCT BOUNDARIES.
First Ward - First |Precinct -- A1l that portion of the first ward south of the Rac- coon river shall constitute election pre- cinct No. 1 of the first ward:
Second Precinct -All that portion of the first ward north of the Raccoon river and solith of Center and of the center line run- ning east and west through section two (2)' and one (1) and six (6), shall constitute the second election precinct of the first ward.
Third Precinct-All that portion of the said ward north of the said second pre- cinct shall constitute the third election precinct of the first ward.
Second Ward -- First Precinct-all that portion of the said ward south of Crocker street shall constitute the first election pre- cinct of the second ward.
Second Precinct- All that portion north of Crocker street in the same ward, shall constitute the second election precinct therein.
Third Ward-First Precinct - All that portion of the said ward south of Crocker
shall constitute the first election precinct therein.
Second Precinct-All that portion of the said ward north of Crocker and south of the Des Moines river shall constitute the second election precinct in said ward.
Third Precinct -All that portion of the said ward north of the Des Moines river shall constitute the third election precinct of said ward.
Fourth Ward-First Precinct-All that portion of territory in the fourth ward south of the Des Moines and Raccoon riv- ers shall constitute the first election pre- cinct therein.

Sixth Ward- First Precinct -- All that ‘portion of the sixth ward south of the Des Moines river shall constitute election pre- cinct No. 1 in said ward.
Second Precinct- All that portion of the "sixth ward north of the Des Moines river and south of Grand ave, shall constitute election precinct No. 2 in said ward.
Third Precinct -- All that portion of the sixth ward north of Grand ave shall con- stitute election precinct No. 8 in said ward.
Seventh Ward- First Precinct-All that portion of the seventh ward south of the Des Moines river shall constitute election precinct No. 1 of said ward.
Second Precinct- All that portion of the seventh ward north of the Des Moines river and east of the east lines of section eleven (11) and two (2), and south of Grand ave, and a line extending directly east from the east terminus of the said ave, to the east line of the city, shall constitute election precinct No. 2 in said ward.
Third Precinct-All that portion of the seventh ward west of the east section lines of section two (2) and eleven (11) and south bf North street and north of the Des river shall constitute election precinct No. 3 of said. ward.
Fourth Precinct-All of the remainder of said ward shall constitute election pre- cinct No. 4 of said ward.
