in 1930 the community truck was pur- chased. The present fully equipped Peter-Purch fire truck was purchased for $4,100 in November, 1936. This appa- ratus consists of a 500-gallon pumper, booster and hose, while that of the community truck, which was bought by the farmers, has a 300-gallon pumper and chemical tanks. Both trucks re- spond to all city alarms and the com- munity truck also covers an extensive rural district.
General alarms are sounded by an electric siren which is operated from the telephone office, with other con- trols at the fire house and Kable plant.
The success of this department is largely due to the cooperation of Kable plant officials who make it possible for the members of the fire department to

POULTRY TRIBUNE COMPANY
O NE of the important business enter- prises in Mount Morris is the pub- lishing firm incorporated under the name of Poultry Tribune Company. This company publishes three important magazines in the poultry field; viz., Poultry Tribune, Hatchery Tribune and Turkey World. The Poultry Tribune, which is the leading poultry magazine in the United States, was brought to Mount Morris from Freeport by R. R. Fisher, in order to secure the printing facilities of Kable Brothers Company. In 1917, Mr. Fisher sold the property to James W. Watt and Adon A. Yoder, who were employees of Kable Broth- ers Company. In 1927, a new publica- tion was established, the Hatchery Trib- une, and in 1934, Turkey World was purchased from the Lightner Publish- ing Company of Chicago, where the magazine was established in 1926. Mr. Yoder soon retired from the active management of the company and since that time Mr. Watt has been president and general manager. With the help of the capable staff which he has gathered around him, he has made a great success of this enterprise.
The company owns and operates a twenty-acre poultry experimental farm just south of Mount Morris where vari- ous kind of equipment, brooder houses, shelters, etc., are tested for the benefit of the readers of these magazines.
The offices of the company occupy the entire third floor of "Old Sand- stone" which is rented from Kable Brothers Company. A complete list of the people connected with this or- ganization is as follows:
J. W. Watt, president and general manager.
Leslie A. Watt, assistant publisher.
Graduate in economics, University of Illinois. Circulation manager, Outdoor Life magazine, 1933-1935. With Poultry Tribune since September, 1935.
JAMES W. WATT, head of a prosperous publishing firm in Mount Morris, is the son of William and Annie (Sinclair) Watt and was born at Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, near Scotland, on March 9, 1887. He came to Mount Morris in 1913 from Hammond, Ind., and worked in the composing room of the Kable plant until 1917, when he and A. A. Yoder purchased the Poultry Trib- une. The business was gradually ex- panded and later incorporated, with Mr. Watt as president and general manager. He has served on the boards of education of both the grade and high schools, and is a member of the board of directors of Kable Brothers Company and the Mount Morris Building & Loan Assn. Mr. Watt was married in 1912 to Florence Allen and they had one son, Leslie, who is now associated with his father in the publish- ing business. Mrs. Watt died Sept. 18, 1932 and Mr. Watt was married again to Marie Webster. The family home is at 6 Emily St.
