One half of the aid furnished under acts of 1879, chapter 252, will be reimbursed by the State, the balance to be paid by the Town, for which no appropriation has been made. Under this act, applications for aid have been numerous. Payments have been made only to those making statements that their health and circumstances would compel them to ask aid under the pauper laws.
Under the State aid, act of 1879, chapter 301, acting in strict conformity to the law, as we understood it, nearly one half that were formerly drawing aid were cut off, but upon their appeal to the State Aid Commissioners, through their sanction, a large part have been reinstated.
